Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I have used Choice Home Warranty six times with absolutely no problems and excellent, professional service. Just renewed the contract and am looking for 3.5 years more of the same great service.

Weldon did an amazing job. He knew the problem right away and knew how to fix it. While other repair people I had spoke to said the motor was burnt and I needed a new vfan, eldon said it was the controller was broke. We looked and had a. Extra one in the basement. He put I in and fixed it right away. He saved me hundreds o dollars. Would use him again and would recommend him anytime.

I have lost all confidence in the world when it comes to home warranties due to my experience with Choice Home Warranty(CHW). My hot water heater went hot just before Thanksgiving and the technician that CHW sent out reported that I needed a replacement. I was told that CHW does not replace Hot water heaters!!! They only replace the parts...excuse me certain parts! Here's the kicker, I bought a 3-year policy one year ago and when I asked for a prorated refund....I was told that there was nothing to refund and I shouldn't cancel my policy because of one claim being denied. So no hot water for Thanksgiving 2019, no prorated refund and I can't wait for CHW to call me in two years asking me... Read More

Well l am at this point not as please with CHW as l did when l original took it out .m first experience was good ,then my next service problem just upset me that l decided that l won’t renew my second year .l know company are not in the business of losing money but l am not happy to either hear it’s not cover or if it’s not repairable just give some ridiculous off to replace it . I am not interested in the arguing back and forth. Remember when they call to offer there service they tell you your cover but buyer beware to make sure you read the fine print an see for yourself how many thinks are not cover on items that break. I honestly would not recommend you to anyone. I filed a claim it took a week to get my furnace fixed. Customer service gave me the run around then a supervisor said he would call me back in an hour and I call back and you are closed. What kind of service is that. The only good thing about the experience is the technician was great.

When I spoke to a representative on the phone they were very courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, what he said was covered and what actually was were two very different things. When it is all said and done, they actually cover very little and it is oftentimes better just to go through Lowes or Home Depot and have them do it and pay them monthly for the service. On the plus side, getting a special price on the policy means I didn't pay a lot for this little life lesson.

I had to find my own repairman and then when he arrived he discovered the problem wasn’t with the water heater but the furnace, I had to submit another request online while the repairman waited. I was routed to four different people on the phone and then the repairman had to spend what seemed like way too much time on the phone with customer service. Then, ultimately, your determination was that the repair/part replacement wasn’t covered. I paid thru 12/24. Now, I’m very worried that if something else happens that I won’t have coverage.
