Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The gentleman from Optimum Plumbing was very professional and determined to resolve the problem. Rather than have my situation linger because his inventory did not have the gasket required . He went to Home Depot and purchased the necessary item. He has demonstrated the importance of providing excellent customer service. I am highly pleased with the customer service I received. Mr. Tavon provided the customer service I expect and deserve. The determination on his part to resolve the issue was definitely outstanding. Thankfully this warranty was in place when needed. I called customer service to get an order processed... it took 5 minutes. My representative knew exactly what to ask me to speed the interview along...perfect!! I hung up very satisfied that I had chosen Choice Home Warranty “my go to” helpline for my home... Then at the 7 minute mark post call... the phone rings ... this, the lady who schedules the actual appointment with a local company CJS SERVICES. The appointment is set...perfect. I had very fast service. I called on Friday and had an appointment e-mail on Saturday. My appointment was for Monday morning. My electrician called me monday morning to let me know when he would be at my house. Nice and friendly. Quick and efficient.

When I had to call, they were polite and very helpful. They went right to work finding me the person I needed to take care of the problem I had at the time. They will help you with just about any home problem you have, such as appliances and so on.

When ever i make a claim you find some hidden fine print reason to deny the claim. Seems its waste of money in having home warranty from you. People buy warranty for peace of mind but this is like inviting more expenses as we loose the $45 one time fee on the technician only to be informed that claim is denied. Would not refer Choice to any friends as well like I have done in the past.

I've had a Choice Home Warranty for 3 months now. I've placed two warranty calls. The first was a minor issue their contractor resolved for the $65 call fee - and then proposed $1,000 of maintenance / upgrade work. Second call was on laundry machine. They claimed the parts are no longer available from Maytag so offered a replacement allowance for a front-loading machine that would barely cover the very basic of top-load machines. When asked for justification their representative kept repeating that they were not required to justify the amounts they gave as replacement in lieu of repair.
