Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I recieved an a brochure that says save 50.00 and get first month free. When I called I was told that's if I pay the amount in full. This brochure is false advertisement it does not say that on the brochure any where. I paid for the1st month and was told I need to wait 30days before it's active. He seems like he was in a rush and was trying to get me off the phone. That's why I gave you a terrible rating.

Well I tried to choose 1 star but the system would not let me. The tech that came out was very professional and found the problem right away. Submitted the claim and it was denied. The door lock switch in bad. They say it is part of the door so they won’t cover it. It is a safety item and not even mounted on the door. So I am going to cancel my contact

I am fighting for a new toilet because my old toilet stopped working, but of course they are coming up with every excuse to not get us s new toilet. Which in the warranty it states, dur to normal wear and tear. Why pay alot of money for someone who won't live up to their policy.

We have called for service twice recently. For the second time the call was answered instantly after the recorded part ended. For the second time the rep was courteous, efficient, and started us on the way to service.

I am disputing my claim that was denied yesterday. The technician that was sent out shows up in a Honda SUV with magnet logos on the car. Very shady. He did not even come inside to look at the heat exchanger. He made some comment there was a short in some wires and my claim was denied. My unit is 16 yrs old. How am I to prevent a wire from going bad? He noted my compressor was dead, but for some unreal reason my claim was not honored. I will be sure to tell every member at the next HOA meeting to NEVER use choice. Rob Thorpe

This company is fine for small problems. I had a problem with my air conditioner which was covered under my plan. They denied the claim based on the fact that there was some rust and that voided the warranty. I appealed and was ignored after the first appeal. No one would return my call and the person handling the appeal, logged into the account but did not respond to my email.
