Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

Contract & Price - 5 / 5

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I have been waiting all week for an ac vendor and get nothing but the run around. Going into our 7th day without ac in the Memphis summer heat and neither choice nor the vendor give a crap. Totally disgusted, choice is one very small step away from being a scam

Great service. CHW was not able to find an A/C repair contractor in 6 hour so they allowed me to find any available contractor, reviewed the diagnostic (easily submitted online) and authorized the work in 10 mins.

They don't pay for everything but it has helped with the problems I had with my older appliances. I signed up for another year because the past two years, they have spent more money than I have.

When they say "Air Conditioning" is covered it's not fully accurate. Only certain parts of your A/C system is covered. Buyer beware, read the contract. Expensive parts are NOT covered.

The company you engaged (Moore Air LLC) sent us a really excellent technician, Kyle S. He was kind, courteous, knowledgeable and so very helpful. We really appreciated his helping us to get our air conditioning system up and running again.

Called CHW on July 7th about a leak under my kitchen sink. Got an appt for the 9th, the plumber came out and said I needed a new faucet. So he came back on the 13th with a new faucet and installed it. He was very nice. I would have given a 5 star except it took 6 days from the time I called to get it fixed. If it would have been a bigger leak I wouldn't have wanted it to take so long. Thank you, Robin
