Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I have had very good experiences with Choice Home Warranty. They are quick to dispatch repair and I've had no concerns with any of the companies they work with. They are responsible and customer oriented. I will be renewing once my warranty is close to expiring!!

Tech was provided by a home warranty. He quickly diagnosed the source of the leak and then tested sheetrock in affected areas for water content. He was able to demonstrate where the water had flowed.

During my 3 year warranty period I had the following experiences after not filing any claims for 3 years: On my 1st claim I should someday receive a check for $1000 to replace a $12K refrigerator. The excuse being that it's considered a professional series refrigerator in the fine print when in reality, it's a residential refrigerator built into the wall. On my 2nd claim, I should someday receive a check for $100+ to replace a 14 month old Microwave. Fair enough although I always remember the advertisements saying they would fix or replace any covered appliance. On my 3rd claim, I should someday receive a check for about $350 to replace a $1200 clothes washer. No where near... Read More

Our dryer wasn’t working, and all I had to do what call and spoke with an excellent claims agent who was nice and efficient. The company that was hired came out within two days and fixed our dryer. It was easy and no hassle.

You did not pay for the issue today. That box is only for the air conditioner and I don’t understand how it can not be part of the air conditioner.

I called today, 7/8/20, and spoke to a representative named Clarence. I forewarned him that I was a consumer that ask a lot of questions and would repeat the full discussion when concluded to ensure I heard and understood everything exactly as explained. Clarence answered all of my questions and made sure that I received the best price based on their current offerings. I’m sure at some point I will need to use the service, but right now peace of mind is certainly appreciated. Clarence gave great customer service, but a 5 star rating will be considered when I actually have to use the service and see how true to agreement HCW is and full customer service is given.
