Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Each plan also offers optional coverage for septic systems, pools /spas, well pumps, sump pumps, central vacuuming systems, limited roof leaks, second refrigerators, and standalone freezers.

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I just signed up for coverage today. The process was easy. The representative, Tony Calenda took time to explain the coverage and discuss the multiple options available to me. I can't review the responsiveness or quality of coverage as I have not yet used that aspect...and hope I don't have to!

appointment made within a very short time was able to reschedule within seconds and able to cancel when my problem solved itself. No hassles just great service. I have had this policy for a couple of years with 3 claims and cannot find one single problem with the service. The companies they work with for service are top-notch.

The technician from Gator Drain & Plumbing, Jordan, was extremely professional in completing the task of fixing our plumbing. He thoroughly explained what he was doing, and what needed to be done in the future to prevent further plumbing troubles. The service beginning with the request for submitting a claim through the help of our Account Manager Dionne Fragoso was seamless. The quick response via the claim submission to the service provider was quick; heard back from Diane at Gator Drain & Plumbing within an hour. All communications between the parties was terrific. We highly recommend Dionne Fragoso, Jordon Dillon and Diane for your warranty and plumbing needs.

The Ae/Sears technician was great. Very professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend him to anyone I know . I would NOT however recommend Choice home warranty to anyone. Choice is a very dishonest and unreliable warranty company. Choice gets a poor rating but they only allow you to select 3 or more stars.

I will not be renewing my contract with choice home warranty. I am extremely disappointed with some of the servicemen lack of professionalism, the inability to keep appointments and unmotivated customer service agent inability to motivate service contractors that commit to doing the jobs to actually show up and do their job. Their is never a supervisor to speak to about resolving my claim. I have recently put in a claim on my AC unit that stopped working on May 25th. I have been reassigned 3times to different companies due to lack of progress. It's now mid July & my family & I have been sweating in this heat.
