Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Well, getting an appointment with a someone to come out takes forever. From the time I requested a service until the time someone came out was 8 days. I really don't feel that's expectable. Trying to contact a customer service rep is a waste of time they basically say they are looking for a contractor in my area keep checking your email. They give you the option to get your own contractor and then make the contractor I choose jump through hoops to get the work done. Prior to fixing the problem, (which is not worth the contractors time) the contractor you choose has to contact Choice submit a game plan as to what he has to do before he does the work. If he doesn't do this Choice Home... Read More

Here is what I see as a problem. CHW tells the contractor how much they will allow. Even if the job is larger than what CHW sees. The contractor is at the site with the problem and CHW is in an office in another state. The other issue we are having with our water heater, is the contracted company doesn’t respond to text messages or calls. That’s not customer service. In an effort to help the repair person, we drained the water tank for them, accepted the ordered parts and advised the contracted company that the tank was drained, one hour of time, the parts were delivered prior to 12 noon, but never received a response from them. I ask you, is that customer service?

Technician found the issue the first time out. Not my experience with a different provider. Very satisfied with the service.

I am very happy with CHW. All claims are addressed immediately. We had electrical concerns and the tech was very helpful, professional and polite. The issue was explained to me in layman terms which I understood! He followed up with a phone call, which I thought was a personal touch. Thank you.

Our AC stopped cooling on Friday just before the 4th of July Long Weekend, so I assumed we will not get any action on our claim until probably Tue-Wed; to our pleasant surprise, Choice Warranty handled the claim right away and I received a text on the 4th of July from Robert with RWJ Heating & Air Conditioning with an appointment for Tue! Honestly, that was a big relief after the terrible last 3 days with the kids complaining about the heat. Rob came on time, was very professional, took his time to diagnose and fix the problem and was kind enough to wait about 15 minutes after to make sure the AC is cooling again. A big "Thank you" to Choice Warranty and Robert & RWJ! Recommended very... Read More

The company that was sent out to the house on my claim for my oven/range was very professional and polite. I would have them come out on any other claim I might have. The result from CHW is no surprise, I am starting to expect either poor service or no service for one reason or another.

Denying repairs for a dishwasher rack that's been used daily for over 2 years, declaring that it's not normal wear and tear (despite the testimonial of the repairman sent to do the service) is just unbelievable.
