Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I would not recommend this company. I submit and claim to have a ceiling fan repaired in June, When the technician came out he told me a part was needed. It is now September and I am still waiting for the part. Choice's response is they are still waiting for a respondence from the technician. Please do not waste your time and money. if they cannot fix something this simple you certainly cannot trust them with larger issues. They do not deserve the 1 star that I'm giving them .

This rating is a 0 star. Somehow this 2 1/2 stars is the lowest this will allow. Easy to file claim. After that it was a nightmare. First company assigned did not have working phone number so doubtful they had insurance. Would not allow them to replace a gas hot water heater. Assigned to a case manager. That person sent a link to set up appointment to talk but it did not work. They never called, responded to phone messages or emails. Still have had 0 contact. Finally got another company and after 10 days with no hot water we got one installed. Will NEVER recommend this company.

We had trouble with the first repairman we were sent, but when we reported the issue, the problem was quickly resolved. We were sent a friendly, professional and knowledgeable repairman the day after we reported the problem! Thank you Choice Home Warranty!!!

I changed from First American Home Warranty to this company and it has been a nightmare. Unfortunately the home has 4 air conditioners and they all were broken when the buyer moved in. It has been 2 months (of summer of course) and they are not repaired. Choice wants thousands of dollars for the buyer to get the repairs done, what is a home warranty good for then? Each air conditioner has a separate case number and the client has to make 15 minute appointments during his busy work schedule to try and get them to do something, anything. It has been the worse home warranty situation I have ever seen and I purchase home warranties for my clients all the time.

When making a claim there is no problem and the process is easy. The service personnel is all prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. when there is a need to replace the unit in question, there may be a need to negotiate the extent of the cost. This is such a small part of the process there is little to not be happy with.

I picked a 10 because I found the technician to fix my water heater. To streamline your process you should have your customer service people input all the information needed and then not stop working on the case until service is found. I was without water for 4 days waiting for authorization. Once I finally got the authorization I had the water heater replaced and working within 5 hours. So I do thank you for authorizing the work to be done. Thank you.
