Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

Contract & Price - 5 / 5

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Called with a heater issue, received very prompt service. Recommended contractor was prompt, efficient, and even arranged for a new part and stated well past business hours to complete the work

I would give them 0 stars if possible. Just like others have said, they are fast to take your money but they will deny your claims! Had them for 2 years with no claims. 10 year old AC unit had leaking coil and needed replaced. Denied due to rust. First off it is not even in the rust area and this is verified with the tech they sent out, second, umm cooper does rust!! Biggest freaking rip off company ever! I have filed a BBB complaint and have contacted my state attorney generals office. DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!

RUN! Save your money! This company is a big rip off, they claim on their site that they cover AC, heat pumps, water heaters, etc...but in reality, if you have done your maintenance (I have) and it's an older home (mine is) they WILL NOT cover anything! Beware! They knew from the start that my home is 20 years old and gladly took my money every month. I called when my Heat pump failed and they said, "We do not cover rusted coils" Um, pretty sure copper does NOT rust, then they changed that to "well, corrosion" . Again, everything corrodes, gets old, breaks down, etc. My issue with them is that they claim to cover everything and in reality they do very little. Very FALSE and MISLEADING... Read More

my claim on my refrigerator was a little tricky but is still foregoing the process. This one I had to get my own contractor since the one they had in network was not available to do it. my contractor came out and diagnosed the problem. Took a while to get parts since it was and LG (which is normal)....it is now fixed and waiting on my reimbursement I paid out of pocket for the out of network contractor. So far no kinks or quirks. I am just not positive it has overall lifespan now to forego the repairs. We will see. So far things have been very smooth and customer service has been very helpful thru the process.

After just 2 weeks of purchasing my Choice Home Warranty, the fan on our cooktop stopped working. Within a few hours, I had an appointment scheduled to repair the fan. The part took 3 days to arrive so, within a week, my cooktop fan was up and running again. Thank you to Choice Warranty!

I initially liked this company, but I have had three problems in a row. A water heater needed to be replaced, part of my well needed to be replaced, and I had an electrical problem that required a new wire. Guess what, almost none of any of them covered and the bulk of the cost were mine! Multiple phone calls later and the companies doing the service also really bad mouthed this company. They pay for cheap things and anything that is sizable is a problem. When my air conditioner failed only a couple of months into the warrantee, they paid only about half of what was needed as well. My recommendation is to save your money and pay a good person to do the repairs. When I stated I wanted the... Read More

Save your money. This policy is a piece of sh**. Called for a repair of my refrigerator. The tech called and asked for model number so he can bring the part with him because he knew what the problem was. He then called Choice warranty but they wouldn't authorize him to buy the part. The tech also told them that the board that controls the temperature and the ice maker needed to be replaced. Choice said they don't cover that because the policy don't cover ice maker. They want to send the part which takes about three days to come in. So I'll be out of a refrigerator for more than a week. They don't deserve one star

Choice was ok until I had issues with my furnace .. Guy came out 1st time it worked 1 day and it stopped again.. He came back out and said it needed to be replaced.. He never called choice to see if they would be replaced and offered to install a new one for me.. After 2 days w/no heat I agreed. $1250 out of my pocket.. Then a relative of mine said.. Why didnt your warranty cover it.. I didnt even think to ask since the technician didnt suggest it.. Long story short.. I call choice after the fact and they wouldnt help cover the charges of replacing it because the technician or I didnt tell them before hand. And that sucked for me they had no empathy for my situation
