Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

It's an old gas dryer which the young tech was able to dislodge a blockage in the feed line and restore its heating up without having to replace a part. He restarted it 3 times in testing before departing. Hopefully it will give us more years of service.

Every month they took their payment from my acct, my refrigerator quit running, tech came out and said that a protective switch that is used to protect the compressor was bad, they told it, turns out according to the tech the bad switch took out the compressor, I called choice home warranty, they denied my claim saying the compressor was a secondary problem is not covered. I argued, they would not fix it. Why, it was a 900.00 repair. Don't buy this ins.

Was looking for a home warranty. Called them to discuss how their $1500 limit can replace anything in the home apart from small things especially with refrigerators starting around $2000 and no central air and heating systems costing below $4000. Be really careful with this company, they have maintenance record requirements for every repair/ replacement so if you don't have maintenance records they will deny your claim. If you have mold, rust, mildew, etc on your outdoor unit and you will because it is outside 24/7 all year your claim will be denied. Any signs of any of those on any appliance that you want repaired or replaced automatically denies your claim. This company is a... Read More

Contacted the company as i was lead to believe they have a good reputation. The sales person convinced me to take out a 5 year cover to get an extra year free. Assured me of no problems with claims, especially as I took out the top cover. A few days into my cover ( September 2016 ) starting, my pool pump went and CHW tried to riggle out of paying by claiming that the pump must have been on it's way out when I took the cover. This is rich from a company whose adverts claim that "at some stage all appliances need to be repaired or replaced, and no need to for a home visit to commence cover".. Eventually agreed to pay up. Unfortunately my pool heater packed up a few weeks ago.... Read More

Our garbage disposal starting leaking. Contacted Choice H. Warranty on a late Friday. The service responder called us Monday. Monday they called to let us know the approximate time the could be there. There asked for the make, model and details of the unit. The model was no longer produced so they subbed with a quality brand sub. When the service team arrived they were truly ready to get the job done. It only took a few moments the change out. They did a through test for leaks by filling the sink with water for a pressure test and then the dishwasher. What a great experience. Thanks to all involved. This service contract has saved us hundreds of dollar. Thanks again for a great company.
