Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The repair company contacted me within an hour of me submitting my request for service. The technician arrived on time and was upfront and honest about my issue. Choice provided a quick resolution to the repair and we were happy with the outcome.

The technician turned up on schedule, and fixed the problem right away, which involved completely replacing the broken unit. I saved around $700 on this repair by having Choice Home Warranty.

Excellent service in getting repair man out!! He examined stove and said he was ordering parts.a few days later, Someone called from the appliance place to find out our model#again. Haven't heard anything since!! At least 2 weeks have gone by!!

I really want to switch to this company, BUT everytime I call to speak with a sales representive they give me attitude because I'm asking question like are they any limits to the amount of money they will spend to repair/replace items, and on plumbing, electrical, and roof repairs. Then after them having an attitude with me and I said nevermind, the first one had the nerve to act shocked that I didn't want to sign up with him and the other one couldn't get me off the phone fast enough.

I am highly satisfied with Choice Home Warranty. My husband and I are first time home buyers so starting off in a home can be very scary, but with CHW they have made it very easy and relaxing for us. We had a bad leakage coming from the plumbing system. We were told to wait 24 hours before a technician would be able to accept the order. Thankfully a technician contacted us the same day within hours to come out and fix our problem. I would truly recommend CHW to any new first time home buyers. My husband and I are at ease with the company. We are grateful to have choose them!!! Thank you Choice Home Warranty!! Keep up the great customer service that you all provide.

Choice sent a reminder email regarding my service. If I didn't receive this email and make a call to choice I would have never known that the service man never put in his evaluation to fix my refrigerator and I would be still waiting for parts that are not ordered. Thank you choice rep for handling the matter promptly.
