Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I am so glad that I switched to Choice Home Warranty. Now only did I get a great cost; but great service. Since having Choice I have had an AC Unit repaired and now my built in microwave replaced. I was contacted within 24hrs for my repairs and the contractors came out and did the job. Customer service is pleasant and quick to respond- hassle free. I like that I can file my claims online and if any questions ; I have options to call in. I have now referred a relative to make the switch. I'm glad I made the choice to go with Choice. Ms Webb

Service is excellent and the price of the warranty is good - only negative is that when you do have a claim, the dollars offered are ridiculously low. You will not be able to replace an appliance or HVAC device with one of similar quality. Because I was persistent on my claim, they up-ed the offer but still only covered about 2/3 of the product cost - nothing is paid for installation. So think of your home warranty as a "help" in paying for 1/2 to 3/4 of what your replacement cost will be. But response time, communication, and follow-up is excellent.

My air conditioner went out and I submitted a claim the next morning. I called at 830 am by 9am I had the name and number of a technician. I called the technician and was set up for repair by 10am. The technician took 25 minutes to fix my air conditioner and it was back running. The service by choice Home Warranty was fast and easy. It only too a few minutes to file the claim and it took less than 3hours from filing the claim to have my air conditioner back working.

I called Choice on Wednesday afternoon and the plumber was at my home performing the repair on Thursday, fewer than 24 hours later! The plumber was professional and efficient. Great service!

Don't trust these reviews. It is one among the worst companies. Don't go with them. I've signed up with them for my several houses. They don't cover most of them. they have a lot of hidden clause to ignore the claim... I had claims from dishwasher, refrigerator, AC and water heater. They covered only for dishwasher - they gave me a replacement cost of $180. that is it. The water heater had a leak.. they won't cover any leak. I replaced the unit by own cost... Terrible company.. I think high star reviews are not good.... may be something is wrong

Called on Saturday with a service need, got claim number at once, got call back with repair service and their telephone, called Monday and got the Appliance service to house on Monday afternoon. I'd say that was pretty good turnaround. We have had the Choice home warranty for 3-4 years and have been very happy. Every call has been with a qualified tech who has kept this household running. At 75 and unable to see well, or get onto and off my knees it is the only way to have a home. We recommend Choice Home Warranty.

CHW and the rep on the phone that initiated the claim did extremely well. The appliance repair company CHW sent to me were professional and courteous. In my case, as of this writing, 7-20-17, they had to order a part, so I have not been totally taken care of yet. My level of confidence is high and all will work out, just need a bit more time, not the repair company's fault, you can't have every "part" in your work truck for everything you could encounter.
