The company offers two benefit limit choices: $5000 or unlimited. We prefer plans that offer the option of unlimited coverage, particularly when adding it doesn't drive costs sky-high. That's the case with Pets Best.

Pets Best has no age restriction; they will cover dogs and cats regardless of how old they are. The company does not exclude cruciate ligament issues so long as they occur after a 6-month waiting period. That's a significant competitive advantage for owners of dogs susceptible to that type of illness. In addition, plans include coverage for accidental dental and some dental illnesses.

Claims processing has taken 4 weeks or longer, all simple claims. Always receive email saying 'sorry but we're experiencing significant delays' but nothing improves in a year with this company. If you the issue, why not fix it with additional hiring and or technology improvements ? Seriously doubt I will renew this policy when it expires. Especially with their rate increases. Customer Non-Service, and making excuses seems to be the normal protocols.

I've had this insurance for over 11 yrs. At first it was o.k., but over the past year it has been terrible. It takes over 1 month to process a claim. Then they tell you to file an appeal. My dog has a UTI. The vet had to shave her vulva & recommended topical medication as part of the treatment. They allowed the antibiotics & tests but said that the shaving and topical was a preexisting condition. They also did not allow for the office visit since it was coded MPE (medical progress exam). They told me to go back to the vet and get a letter explaining MPE & file an appeal on the UTI. One simple phone call to the vet could have solved the whole problem. Now it will probably be over... They increased my premium after the first year from $46-69. That’s a lot of increase, I haven’t had to submit a claim yet but after reading all the negative comments, maybe I should change insurance.

Hi, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date. You can contact us if you would like to go over options to lower your rates.

I decided to use this service - I can not update my dogs information on their site. I submitted one claim and it has been over a month to get that they didnt get all their paperwork - My vet sent them info and now we are waiting again. I tried calling with wait time of over 40 min and hung up because I could not get in touch with anyone. I am still waiting to receive money on our 1 claim. Not impressed - Going to go back to Healthy Paws. This service is terrible so far. UGH

Although most people have had a good experience with Pets Best insurance, I was financially and emotionally devastated by their lack of communication, support, and compassion for me and my dog. I signed my dog up for Pets Best insurance after a dear friend of mine recommended them to me. My dog was approaching 7.5 years old and had no current health issues, so I thought it best to sign her up before she developed any. My dog presented with lameness during the waiting period, and it was unclear to me and my veterinarian what the cause was. They would build and apply any clause not to pay you. MY dog tore her ligaments 4 months after I started the insurance, I have proofs, confirmed by the vet, that had no preexisting conditions, but they've a little clause in their contract that they would not reimburse this kind of surgery in the first 6 months. They didn't care about the vet nor all the videos we have of her running and jumping, nothing. Now I paid both the premium and the surgery. Never again.

This company should have their insurance license removed. PetsBest will find any reason to deny claims. My dog was sick (vomiting) and I took him to the vet. My dog has no history of vomiting, the vet wanted to do a bunch of test and of course I said yes, we have insurance. Almost $500 later I get a denial saying my dog has a history of irritable bowel syndrome. First off he does not (I have copies of all of his records and no where does it say he has IBS) and second no matter what I said they continued to refuse payment. It was the most unethical experience of my life. Now I am out the $500 and all the premium I have paid for nothing.

THIS INSURANCE IS GREAT IF YOU PURCHASE, WHEN YOUR PET IS A PUPPY/KITTEN. AS THEY GET OLDER, EVEN HAVING ALL THE ADD ON'S, ITS A WASTE OF MONEY! THEY WILL FIND ANY REASON, TO DENY A CLAIM.
