The company offers two benefit limit choices: $5000 or unlimited. We prefer plans that offer the option of unlimited coverage, particularly when adding it doesn't drive costs sky-high. That's the case with Pets Best.

Pets Best has no age restriction; they will cover dogs and cats regardless of how old they are. The company does not exclude cruciate ligament issues so long as they occur after a 6-month waiting period. That's a significant competitive advantage for owners of dogs susceptible to that type of illness. In addition, plans include coverage for accidental dental and some dental illnesses.

Have paid my deductibles on time. Filed a claim on 2/4. Called for follow up because I still had not received word of processing a few weeks later. Was told they had a few more days before the maximum threshold of processing was (39 days). They received my paperwork and the Vets the same day 2/4 - Still nothing as of 3/17. Called today and their answering machine said the office is closed for training sessions. I sent them an email about a week ago that they haven’t responded to either. My other dog has Spot and they take about a week to process claims. Pets Best, I am starting to think, is shady at this point.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I have had pets best Insurance for 13 years. When I went to renew I was quoted a price of 334. for $10,000 illness policy. When I inquired about lowering the price to $5000. Illness policy, I was quoted a premium of $226. This quote was given on 1/07/2022, by a customer care agent. MONICA . My policy was due to renew on 1/09/2022. It renewed at the premium price of $300.00 per month NOT the quote of $226. Per month. When I requested an explanation I was told that it was quoted incorrectly. They even had recorded the call ,which proved that I was indeed correct when I was quoted the $226.00 from the customer care rep.(Monica). They will not honor their quote of $226..... Read More

I am a new customer. On my very first claim Pet's Best is refusing to pay for the wellness exam. The representative I spoke with claimed that because the results of the wellness exam found ear mites in my kitten that the wellness exam would not be covered. This is not detailed in any policy information. I believe this is fraudulent in nature as the company is refusing honor my legitimate claim. All over $50??? Simply ridiculous.

I agree with so many of these bad reviews. I accidentally submitted a claim for gastroenteritis before the 14 day waiting period was over for a 3-month-old puppy. Most puppy owners can say their puppy has had diarrhea at some point in their young lives. The vet didn't find anything wrong with her and gave her a different food and some anti-diarrheal meds and it cleared up. Now my almost 1-year-old dog had some diarrhea and needed a fecal panel. This claim was denied as being a preexisting condition from diarrhea she had close to 9 months prior. So basically what I understand now is that if my dog has ANY tummy trouble for the rest of her life it will NEVER be paid because of the... Read More

Pets Best is the worst. It's a scam. They throw everything under the pre-existing condition to not pay your claim. They then say your welcome to file a appeal then email you a form to fill the out and mail back in but if you don't have a printer, you can't. Healthy paws insurance company is much better/ wish I never left for this scam....

I have been with Pets Best since March of 2020. I am stuck now as this year has brought a lot of pitfalls for my French Bulldog. Prior to obtaining Pets Best, the only pre-existing condition is a luxating patella diagnosed at 6 months old; and a traumatic eye injury that fully healed without issue (documented by Ophthalmology Surgeon). They advertise that any condition that is "cured" or "healed" is not considered pre-existing, prior to signing up for the insurance and sending in all the medical records I was told the only condition that would not be covered is the luxating patella, as that is a condition that will never be "cured". GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This company changed its coverage for me after 1 year and raised it's rates. NEVER covered anything. Paid almost $600 a year. Claims take about 2 months. They barely read them. Contacted the wrong vet. Total incompetency! Getting someone to call you back is a joke. I am filing a complaint with the Insurance commission. HORRIBLE company.

Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity.
