Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I'm not happy! So far i had the garage door fixed twice for the same problem still not working, choice didn't cover my a/c unit problem so I'm out 400 dollars, choice didn't cover my range problem so I'm out 465.00. I'm paid up through september so i have no choice but to keep the policy but i will not renew or recommend.

Not very happy with Choice. I filed a claim because my furnace stopped working and it was denied. They stated that it was being denied because they don't cover "Pre-existing conditions" and because the policy was yet too new. After going round and round about how " everything in my house in a pre-existing condition" "It's only a matter of time before the wear and tear on everything in my house will fail and we didn't anticipate the furnace going out, Choice "offered" to pay 1/2 of the cost and I would pay the other 1/2. Choice further stated that if I agreed to this, every claim from this point on would not get denied. I now regret leaving my previous warranty company for Choice. I... Read More

I'm not totally satisfied with the company you have chosen to service our home. Let me explain. On Thursday the 25th I called and made a request (claim) for assistance with an electrical problem we were having in house. the company that you assigned to me called within an hour of my call to CHOICE and said they would be out that same day between 11 am and noon. Good so far. at noon the electrician called to say he couldn't come but they would send another technician and he would call me to set the time. That call never came and now I see on my email that the company (no name given) will arrive at my house on Saturday between 3 and 8 pm. This is unacceptable. I have commitments... Read More

I never had a good experience with any technician that ever came. they are very good to classify the job as not a covered job. practically working with CHW there is nothing that could be covered...complete waste of money

NEW CASE OPENED BUT NOTHING WAS DONE ON PRIOR CASE. THAT IS THE REASON I REFUSE TO BE SCAMMED AGAIN!! IF THERE IS A RESOLUTION THIS TIME, I WILL BE VERY SURPRISED BUT OPEN TO SEE THAT THE PROMISES MADE BY CHOICE MAY NOT BE COMPLETE FRAUD.

I have had this warranty company now for over two years.... sometimes they come thru, other times, not so! This week, for instance, I happen to have both a plumbing issue and an air conditioning issue both on the same day. They sent over a plumber, he checked the situation, called them, and they said it was not covered due to the fact that it was not able to be done on the ground level. That's crap! So, I ended up having to pay $300 for the cleanest of the drainpipe myself, plus the fee for the tech to come from Choice. Then the air conditioning guy came..... He told them the freon was leaking. They told him it was not covered! Then I had to spend $375 for this guy to do a special... Read More

My contract expires next month & I couldn't be happier. There are a lot of items that were not covered & I thought they should be. I have a pool problem right now & I called to open up a claim & was told that my pool is no longer covered. That did it for me. Can't wait to dump them.

We just purchased our warranties (1 for each of 2 homes) today so have never made a claim. Therefore this evaluation is made only for the purchase process. We received a call from a sales agent at CHW within 1 minute of placing an online request for a quote. Barry was very helpful, explained the coverage and answered all our questions thoroughly. He also asked whether either of us was a senior or a veteran to see if we qualified for a discount based on either status. The final cost was excellent, quite a bit lower than the cost for the other 2 companies we contacted for essentially the same coverage. The deductible is also quite a bit lower than the options offered by each of the... Read More
