Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I have had a home warranty for years. I had a problem getting paid and my premium went up $11.00 per month beginning in January so I wanted to see if I could do better. Even though I had to pay for the entire year on your policy you saved me a lot of money and your deductible is only $45.00 per call where my current company is $75. Shawn was very informative and appeared to really care about us. We will have to wait to see how you pay claims before we can give you any better rating.

We have reached out multiple times to the company for plumbing issues and no response from choice or company. Still having tons of issues with leakage and water bill over 100 dollars more than usual and damage to walls and floor

The appointment was set for today then I received an email stating that the appointment was changed to yesterday, Wed December 20, 2017. No one showed up. So this morning I called CHW and was told there is nothing in their system about the appointment for yesterday. They called the plumber and left him a message about the appointment being today December 21, between 11am and 1pm. I hope he shows up! Oh and just now I received another email stating we missed our appointment for yesterday! I'm not very happy right now!

Your representative was very helpful and courteous and did not take long in setting up my order. I am a returning customer. I was disappointed when I had to let it go in the first. I am pleased the payments are lower and so are the service calls.

I called in for our furnace that is not working. Tuesday night Dec. 19th and the soonest you can get someone out here is Fri. Dec. 22nd. Three days with no heat can cause my pipes to freeze and create another problem. This is unacceptable. I know I should be able to get someone here today. I am not happy .

I called about my dryer - it wasn't heating, but it turned on. I called on my way to work to make the claim. I spent a total of 5 minutes on the phone doing the claim. In less than 5 minutes after that I got a call from the service company giving me a window of time that they would be there. The tech arrived and he diagnosed the problem quickly. The only problem is that the technician did not have the part with him to fix the dryer and it is a 5-6 day wait time, but he gave me a work around until the part comes in, so it is really not a huge problem after all. This was my first time to make a claim and the service call fee is all I am paying for. I do not have to pay for the part.... Read More
