Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

My A/C went out and I called CHW. They couldn't find anyone to service my unit so I had to find someone myself. The technician I used found that I had a leaking evaporative coil unit in the interior unit (we have a split system). The technician explained the situation with CHW and CHW came back that they wouldn't cover the repair. Their words exactly were "Evaporator coils that leak have been exposed to corrosion or acidic materials that have infiltrated the air stream and air flow throughout the house and have damaged the integrity of the coil. . . . We are not responsible for malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion." I responded back saying that this is a... Read More

1. I wanted to cancel the policy because the agent charged my credit card the whole amount of $1176 instead of 4 payments for a 3.5 yrs agreement. 2. Poor customer service. It took me 30 minutes waiting on the phone for a customer service agent to answer my call. 3. BBB has registered a lot of complaints about not covering many repairs. I will give it a try, and cancel later if I will experience bad service.

Superb service, from the moment I placed my claim, all the way in having a reliable repair man doing the job in less than 24 hours. You simply cannot get better service than this. My hats to you all that makes Choice Home Warranty my choice.

The customer service rep was very knowledgeable and answered my questions. He also informed that I could get a better discount if he processed my application on line. During our discussion he informed me of an offer for seniors that saved me even more money if I signed up for a 3 year contract. I can't speak to their service when I have to actually use the policy but this part was very good.

DO NOT purchase from Choice Home Warranty. Choice Home Warranty will not honor the contract. In the height of the summer my A/C went out. I had purchased a home warranty plan at the beginning of the year, so I immediately submitted my claim. Mr. Marcus Jones of Indoor Weatherman HVAC came out, diagnosed the system, the compressor was bad. The following is the email from Choice. After reading the email,I’m floored, the system has never had a repair. So I call the company that has been maintaining my system and we took pictures that prove the systems has never been repaired. They are still denying my claim. Next step is to get a good lawyer and sue for breach of contract. Recommendations???

So far you all great at working with the customer. But I think you all have to find better tech to come out to people’s home’s because some of them just look and tell you what they think and not looking to find the problem and get your money I have experience twice.

We have been dealing with the same issue for months. I'm on hold for 45 minutes to well over an hour every time I need to call. Virtually nothing is covered under this warranty. You submit a valid claim and they never cover it. Save your money. This company is terrible.

I normally have a pretty good experience with Choice Home Warranty. When I have a covered item failure or malfunction, Choice Home Warranty is there to help and the issue is resolved quickly, however; a recent service call was made and it took nearly three months to incorrectly get resolved. I had three different technicians diagnose three different issues. And in the end I ended up paying out of my pocket. The Supervisor was not very considerate and a little rude I had to go 3 months without a washing machine and go to the laundromat spending over $125 a month. The amount the supervisor offered me barely help my repairs. And I was told that the issues was my fault. I'm very unhappy... Read More
