Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Well...as I am writing this review, my washing machine is stuck mid-cycle with a tub full of dirty water. It will likely remain this way until the contracted repair Technician eventually receives the replacement motor that Choice Home Warranty has authorized. I can't say for certain, but I'm assuming that it will be a refurbished motor, since this washing machine has been discontinued for some time now. The total time for the process to be completed will be nearly two weeks, which has been the average amount of time for the previous claims. That leaves two options for getting the laundry done, which is either at the laundromat or at my Mother-in-law's. Honestly, I don't know which is... Read More

Poor phone service for support. Questions are not answered only internet that my issue was not covered. Tony Calinda was NOT AT ALL HELPFUL only transferred my call. The repair order indicates "closed" on line and the work is STILL NOT COMPLETED after two weeks. This company in my opinion is very unprofessional offers no customer service for support!

We had a leak in our washer hose which was replaced by an efficient and all business repair main. He came when expected went about his business and fixed our washer hose quickly and he worked to avoid any spills or mess while he worked and after he finished. We were very pleased with his work.

Started off bad but the team called me and approved part of the Refrigerator problem. No water valve or Ice maker fixing was approved. In my opinion this is part of the refrigerator function and it should be approved.

We live in a rural part of Colorado and it's often hard to find vendors who will service our area. We decided to find our own handy-man for a repair, the service to call and get approval was quick. We haven't received the check yet, but the service was yesterday. I hope the check comes soon.

My Kenmore Elite washer broke and it was determined by the technician that it needed a new transmission and couldn’t be repaired. I was originally offered $299. by Ashley to replace it. Up until a week ago the washer was fully functioning. When I complained that it was not possible to buy even the lowest end washer for that amount, I was told that the money was not intended to be enough to replace it. I asked to speak with someone else and Ashley told me that there was no one else to talk to. She was the only one at the company in claims and she had no supervisor. When I bought the policy which cost $1700. I was told by the sales person that if an appliance can not be fixed that Choice... Read More
