Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I was looking at a Choice ad on facebook. As soon as I put in my phone number when filling out the form to get a quote, my phone rang. I hadn't even gotten to look at what was offered, yet. I signed up for the service based on what the sales rep said. He said I would get a copy of the contract which I have not received. So I have been charged $2100 and don't have any record of what I bought

The worst. Your system is combursome and very inefficient. When I call there is so much noise of other agents it is hard to hear the person Iam talking to. The fact that you have the repair people submit on line and wait for approval is maddening and time consuming. You do not seem to care if your customers are inconvenienced at all. Furnace out for two days, washer fix took 1 1/2 months. That’s right 1 1/2 months and I had to order the final part myself and install. You obviously do not vet your repair people as the washer repair man’s only experience was in stereo equipment. Suffice to say you are terrible. More importantly your people do not care.

On a number of occasions over a 2 week period, our 10 year old Samsung Clothes Dryer had an issue with a Start Button that would not return to its correct position after being pushed. Completed an online claim submission on a Friday evening, and the Claims Rep established an appointment set for the following Tuesday with a local repair shop. The technician arrived during the 1st hour of the 4-hour window for the service call. He removed the top of the dryer and inspected the Start Button and found it to be sticking. He applied a silicon paste lubricant on that button's "housing" and several others. He started and ended several drying cycles using the buttons before re-installing the... Read More

This was my first experience having to use my Choice warranty since my previous provider (Service America) closed. Within 1/2 hour of requesting service (on Monday) I had a response with a contact number, appointment date and time(for 2 days later)! I was unavailable at the proposed time so I called and they were very gracious and changed the appointment for when I could be home. The technician arrived on time!! He was very knowledgeable, professional and quickly fixed the issue with my washer!! It was a great experience!!

I filed a claim for a furnace repair. I was contacted by a service technician within 2 hours and received a confirmation text shortly after. The technician arrived at 7am as scheduled . He had to order a part but had the supplies by the next morning. I have the repair scheduled this morning at 9a. The service technician A&M arrived on time, worked to find the issue and explained the details of the repair.

I had received an email revealing veterans' discounts which not widely known. I completed and submitted the form which included my phone number. Within a couple of minutes, I received a phone call from Richard, one of Choice Home Warranty's representatives. He very quickly explained how their program works and gave me a money-saving quote that was beyond my wildest dreams. We had been with another company for many years, but it was easy to make the decision to change to a Choice Home Warranty policy. Thanks, Richard and Choice Home Warranty, for offering me a way to get a better policy for much less money. Charles D. Walker
