Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Over the last two years that we have carried home warranty coverage with Choice we have had four systems repaired under our coverage. With each occurrence I entered a claim online and received responses that a technician had been assigned within a day. The technicians service was scheduled shortly thereafter and set within a few days time. Each technician was efficient, pleasant, and capable. I will definitely continue my coverage through Choice for my home!

you offer a warranty but make it very difficult to make a claim. I have had other home warranties but have never gone through the nightmare I have gone through with your company. Choice is not a recommendation I would make to others. This is unfortunate for me. I will make sure my realtor know my experience so she can share with new clients.

My 2 year experience with Choice has been nothing short of stellar, especially recently when I had emergencies with my Air conditioner and plumbing the techs dispatched handled my issues with precision and expertise. First experience was simple and straightforward. Called for rekey service and received info for contractor the same hour. Contractor followed up and was prompt for appointment. House rekeyed and all questions answered in less than an hour. Convenient card payment and receipt immediately provided.

Got this service for a new condo I purchased and after 40 days the Air conditioner acted up. I reached out to have a technician look at the unit and it was a simple fix. I was very pleased with the ease of communicating and getting a fast response to this issue.

The claim center should be open on the weekends so that the technician can get an ok to finish the job. I still have a fridg not working. And could not get help today.

CHW responded timely when the claim was submitted online but after trying for 6 months have yet to get anyone one the phone. Also non of my claims have been corrected in one visit. However the technicians are very professional.

Two of our sinks were clogged and we also had a leak in the laundry room. The technician was punctual, respectful and explained to me everything that he would be doing. He left the work area clean and was done quickly. I was very happy with the service.
