Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I am very disappointed with my Service so far...I paid for 5 years in advance and my contract is not up until 2022....my concern is i purchased a new air conditioning unit about 7 yrs ago...unfortunately this unit has required service every year since that time and every time its serviced I'm told something different....when is Choice going to step in and say enough and replace the unit instead of allowing it to limp along until it stops working....I have serious misgivings about renewing contract after 2022.

My current experience with your program has not been positive. The local technician in the Westchester county area have not been following up on their visits or up to date with technology which allows us to provide them with better understanding of the job that needs to be done. Instead of asking questions that customers do not have the answer or knowledge of the issue. Which leave us the customer obligated to have to go out of network. As per your reimbursement process it needs to be better management. Most local technicians can begin to work at 8 am and your office doesn’t open until 9 am . This makes it very difficult for customers and technicians to get authorization. Their... Read More

The CHW representative, Jason, went out of his way to find a CHW product that fit our needs. His attentiveness to my concerns, his responsiveness, and the initiative he took to address my concerns were impressive. David Hull

I WAS HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE OF OUR SERVICE INDIVIDUAL AND THE TIME IT TOOK FOR RESPONSE TO CLAIM. HOWEVER I FELT THAT Since I pay 46 a month for the warranty that I should have been provided a fan that was equal to the one being replaced. My fan cost 100 dollars and had three lights. After initial 8nspection I was told that I would only be allowed 50 dollars for the replacement fan and If I 2anted a more expensive one the difference would have to come out of my pocket so I had no choice but to except the cheaper fan.
