Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Customer Service was bad, I was told it would take 5 days to get my air conditioner fixed, I asked if choice could choice someone else or get someone out to my house quicker than 5 days, and she said not, so I asked if I could have the number to the company coming to service my air conditioner and she said yes and gave it to me, I called the company and they came the say day, I cannot believe that the choice customer service was so lazy as not to want to call for me to set this up and I had to do the leg work that if this is the kind of service I receive in the future with choice I will be switching to another warranty company after my contract is up.

Chw has great coverage as far as what they will fix. They replaced our hot water heater with a new one and all we paid was the copay which made having them worth it. Their claim process is easy to use. I wish their customer service reps were a little friendlier at times. Most of the repair companies have been good but they have not initially had the best availability but chw has always reassigned another company to fit my schedule. In the end I am glad to have them over any of the other warranty companies. We have used them for over 10 years now.

I had to find my own repairman and have him call before they could do repair . The person from choice have him the 3rd degree and then wouldn't tell him to do the work. He did not ask to talk to me. I did know if choice would pay us back for the work. I was not informed. Less then impressed with choice. The call to them had so much background noise, I had trouble hearing.
