Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

The electrical issue was found by the technician and found to be the Park's fault & Ohio Edison. They are to rework the wiring today. Thank you!

I've had a so so relationship with Choice Home Warranty from the beginning being that they really only cover about half of the problems people actually experience with their appliances. What has really turned the tide on my opinion of their service was my most recent A/C outage. The contractor "Eli" from aircon was wonderful and very thorough every time he came to service our unit. Now as far as the handling of my claim with Choice Home Warranty, it has been the most un-professionally handled mess I've ever had with an insurance company. Its bad enough to have your claim rejected on grounds of guessing and blaming the customer about the appliance failure, despite it being as old as the... Read More

Vinny was polite and extremely helpful with the appliances he was sent to service. He gave was a detailed review of what needed to be done and called us back in a few days to tell us the parts were in and to make an appointment to come back and install them. Job complete and we were very satisfied.

My air quit on Saturday. Called Choice and they sent me a message of the company and the time frame that he was to be there on Monday. Justin of Victory Heat and Air showed up on time and within the hour had the problem located and completed the repair. Great to have air back on in this 90 degree heat. Thanks Choice!

First time homeowner so don't have much to compare the service to. Also, just opened my 1st claim and as far as ease of filing and getting a response from Choice/Service Provider it was great! However, the technician never showed up, never called to say they needed to reschedule. I called before closing got voice mail, left a message. Hoping to get a hold of someone and have the claim completed soon.

They deny more claims than they fulfill. 1 out of every 4 claims is denied.

Choice Home Warranty review You ae not helpful when it comes to emergency services needed on the weekends. I was told I would hear back in 2 hours, 3 hours later I called and they said would be another two hours. Finally heard 8 hours after filed claim. Still didn't get service until Monday. Two days without AC in Texas heat with infants in the house is crazy. You should have vendors that are set up for emergencies such as this or in the reverse if it were in the middle of the winter without heat.

On yesterday I again filed a claim for my air conditioner, paid an additional $65 dollars to the service tech that was sent out but did not get a statement of what they found. My initial claim of 7/7/20 was denied on the false pretenses that I had this problem before I became a member of CHW. I sent documents from my previous home warranty company proving that my air conditioners were in good working order. My attorney after reading both contracts and seeing a copy of the last air conditioning maintenance done under American Home Shield, sent you a demand email, dated 8/6/20 and to date no response or action have been done on your part to alleviate this problem. Please consider my... Read More
