Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Was talked over, and then processed a payment before we were ever off the phone. I do not want this policy. I want it cancelled and no one will cancel it and refund my money!

I just renewed my contract with a sales rep. He told me on a recorded call that the rate was for 44 months. When my Contract was set up in your system it is for 41 months. this needs to be corrected or I will cancel my contract.

The CHW tech they sent to evaluate my year old dishwasher's leakage was great and CHW declined to fix it and issued a Lowes gift card. however, I don't shop at Lowes and do not want to have to open an account there in order to use the gift card. I asked for a check instead and they finally agreed to issue one to me. I'm satisfied ...

The technician was very knowledgeable but he said due to Choice loop holes that I probably won't get a new HCVA system due to this. The system is pas it's life and there need $5000 worth of repairs. Let's see if Choice makes the right decision.

I am so glad we purchased the warranty plan. We have had to replace hot water heater, 2nd refrigerator, garbage disposal and had plumbing work all in the last 6 months. We paid our monthly payment & copayment to the service technician and everything else was paid for. The plan has paid for it self just with the refrigerator replacement. We had had the plan and have never had a problem of getting work done or replacement cost for our cover items. The best warranty plan we have used.
