Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I recently called Choice Warranty after our dishwasher stopped working. The technician that came out was very friendly and professional. He gave the diagnosis that the dishwasher would need to be replaced instead of repaired. We were initially offered 245.00 in the form of a Lowes e-gift card. Me and my wife actually have a Lowes credit card so we are very familiar with their process and prices. The haul away and delivery fee alone is 165.00 and this was one of the things we explained to Victoria who first off had zero empathy for the issue at hand and just kept saying well this is our policy and what we give for the replacement of your item. The technician was checking for electrical problems. after a few checks, he then pulled the dryer from the wall, and that's when I noticed a round access panel on the right bottom side of the dryer. I then remembered that a few years ago i looked it up on the internet and that the access panel was there to reach inside to reset the reset button. It is inside the dryer about 10 inches from the door. It isn't a large door panel, and my arm is a bit hard to get in there. The technician looked inside and saw the reset button, turned breaker power off and he reached inside and pushed in the button. They do wonders for families who might not otherwise have the money to pay outright for repairs to their home. We inherited my grandparents house about 7 months ago and decided to go with choice home warranty because we new there could be unexpected expenses arising from owning our own home. We have had choice home warranty for about 6 months and just this month our air went out upstairs. It’s hot but choice home warranty made all the arrangements for us and we are getting our unit replaced now! We are more than grateful to choice home warranty for all the hard work! Thanks again!

I was very pleased with the service from Choice Home Warranty. I submitted a repair request, and within hour I got a telephone call to schedule the repair visit. The technicians arrived on time (actually a little early) and quickly diagnosed the problem. In my case, I needed a new system, and the install was scheduled for the next business day. Again, they arrived early and did the work quickly and professionally. They noticed little things and addressed them. For instance, the new system was a bit smaller than the old system, and they touched up the paint so that it didn't look tacky. I was very impressed.
