Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I placed a claim for skimmer repair on my above ground pool 10 days ago. I haven’t received any contact from a repairman or from Choice. I have called Choice claims specialist twice and both times they said I would be contacted within 24 hours. Nothing yet. They offer the reimbursement option but I can’t afford to pay up front then get reimbursed. That’s why I got a home warranty to begin with so I wouldn’t have to pay up front. This is my first claim and I am disappointed in the service.

The claim was called in on friday and a service repair tech was out Monday morning! He had the part in his vehicle and was able to get our dryer fixed in less than an hour.

The call center says the same thing over and over about we are working the claim. Problem is, this goes on for days and days. ANYTHING not to pay a claim. EVERY single claim I have had (2) they say the exact same thing, that the vender has not given them all of the necessary information for Choice to make a decision. Really, you can't make a decision on a shower cartridge. STUPID if not so FUNNY. Sound familiar??

I was very happy with my two recent service calls. One, for toilet, was dealt with on the same day. The other, for sink, was denied b/c there was corrosion around stopper. I spoke to claims manager, Kenneth, and he approved $200 toward the $550 cost to replace sink, faucet, stopper and braided hoses despite not being covered. I was grateful for that. Choice did a great job.

Cedrick was great! He was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the air conditioning what was needed to fix the issue. He was very patient when having to wait for another person in the building to give him access to the roof. Cedrick was thorough and I appreciated him fixing the issue as soon as possible.
