Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

This has to be the worst home warranty on the market. I called them for a heater repair in Dec. the visit cost $45. The heat stayed on for two weeks. Called again Jan 3. House temp 49. took four days to get a new blower motor. Heat lasted two weeks again. Called again and they came out and said the blower motor has blown the circuit board and they would not cover it. Board cost $315 and they quoted a repair price of $140. The took 4 days to get the board. Then repair price was jacked to $250. Heat still did not work. They now stated it was a gas valve problem not covered by choice and repair would be $295. Tech just came out and said repair is $345. Choice consistently lies, never call... Read More

I have had several service calls over the last 4 months. Two for the same issue. This time I did not have to wait 2-3 days for a plumber. They arrived within 4 hours of my call. I was extremely pleased. They snaked the whole house main line and the problem was resolved . Thank you CHW.

We had a wonderful experience with a leaking toilet and Choice Home Warranty!! We noticed a small amount of water behind our toilet, called the warranty company, and they gave the claim to Double D Sewer and Drains. He came the same day, replaced the wax ring quickly, cleaned the area and was very professional!!

During a routine furnace tune up I was shown a video of a crack in the heat exchanger. Called Choice they sent out a "jack of all trades" who looked at the video, said it was caused by rust, and not covered. Called Choice to remind them if you have CAC the evaporator can drip some condensation onto the heat exchanger, that it is not poor maintenance. After three calls they stated they would give me a check for $50.00 to refund part of the service call. This program is a joke and has too many excuses, and does not perform!! Do not buy!

I'm a truck driver and I'm only home a few days out of the month. With a simple phone call, I scheduled the repair with a professional. When I got home, everything was up and running again! My home warranty is one of the best investments I've ever made!

My call was answered quickly and My claim was handled efficienly and with professionalism. The contractor contacted my within a couple of hours to set up the appointment. He arrived at the beginning of the arrival window and quickly assessed the problem. He had to order the part but I was contacted within 2 hours with my next appointment time. Excellent service. Thank you!

My stove/oven would not heat up properly, over heating by a couple hundred degrees. Choice contacted a service company(?) they came out verified it was over heating, collected money and left. Did not return. Choice then contacted Sears home repair, they came out, also verified over heating, contacted Choice and since parts could not be located they made payment to replace stove... Different claim, same time period. Toilets (2) were both leaking from tank to bowl. First contractor replaced flappers, left horrible stains on carpet from his dirty boots then left. I told him problem was not solved. He never returned. Next contractor came out, checked both toilets, notified Choice of costs... Read More

Called about a heating problem at my home for the first time after purchasing a contract from Choice Warranty. Response from Choice Warranty was immediately taken care of by calling Pascall Mechanical Inc. The tech was here within hours and pin pointed the problem and fixed the problem temporarily so we had heat. The problem was fixed today and the work was done expertly.The techs took a lot of care in fixing the problem. Very satisfied
