Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Run.I belive they pay their repairmen to find reasond not to honor their warranty contract. After 3 -4 yrs of monthly payments and them coming up with an excuse to not pay for repairs(except a sm washing machine repair a few months into the plan) I cancelled the plan. The repairmen must be incompetent as after CHW declined several major requests a local repairman fixed each for less than 50-100 dollars.

I wanted to take the time to thank Tom May Remodeling for taking care of the plumbing issues that I was having. He was very professional and courteous. Being that I live in an older home Tom had to go out and find the parts but returned in a timely manner..PLUS, all this was done on Valentine's Day when he could have been at home with his sweetheart! When leaving he stated that he had to stop and stand in line to get candy and flowers before going home so he would not be in the doghouse. lol ..Thanks Choice Warranty!

PLEASE DONT GET SCAMED BY CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. My refrigerator stop working, filed a claim with CHW, Claim # 106493418. Tech sent by CHW informed me that there is a gas leak. CHW denied the claim because they do not cover the leaks... I paid $600 to get the leak fixed. A month later, refrigerator stop working again and this time Tech told me that the Main board is bad and need to be replaced. Again CHW denied my claim because according to CHW, since refrigerator was running on law Freon, it burned the board, there fore CHW will not pay for the board. What the hell. In short, CHW will find a way to some how, some way deny a claim.

2/13/2017: I haven't had a good experience with CHOICE. I would not recommend them to any of my friends. When I signed up with them I was told they were not a good company to go with but because they talked about piece of mind and the roof was partly covered, I decided to change over to them. Big mistake...they are the worse. They were very rude and left messages for me to call them back as they slammed the phone down. Another so called specialist hung up in my face when I was trying to understand why they didn't cover the claim. They are not professional and will find some reason to deny your claim.

I recently filed a claim with CHW for a plumbing leak. After the service provider found a copper pipe leak in the wall, he submitted an estimate for repair to CHW. Later that day, the service provider notified me that the repair had been disapproved. I got in touch with CHW and they told me the reason for the disapproval was that the service provider said the pipe was corroded, and corrosion was was excluded per the terms of our agreement. I argued that there was no corrosion because the pipe is in an interior wall and the pipe was not exposed to any corrosive environments. After going round and round, the agent offered to split the cost with me. I disagreed and asked to talk to a... Read More

I researched Home Warranty Companies several years ago when I first bought a Home Warranty. I must preface this with the statement that none have been worth the money but Choice is undoubtedly the worst that I have ever dealt with. I had not used my warranty fo r two years since I bought it, and then I had 3 warranty claims in a row, none of them got fixed. First, I had a Jenn-Air cooktop and was told it was too old to fix but they wouldn't replace it either. They would credit me $100 toward MY cost to replace it. I replaced it myself so they wouldn't give me the credit. Then, I had a pipe burst in my attic and the ceiling collapsed. This happened on a Sunday. I called Choice and... Read More
