Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Got an appt with plumber because hot water heater was going out. Tenant called and said that the plumber didn't show so I called Choice. A new plumber was assigned. When the plumber was called he said that he does not service our area. Had to get another plumber. The hot water heater was evaluated and plumber recommended replacement. All water going through it was rust colored and tenant has a small child. Though replacement was recommended, I was told it wasn't covered but out of the kindness of their hearts they agreed to send me $250. My Samsung washer is not operating correctly and service tech says it's not repairable. Choice home warranty tells me they will pay to replace the shocks but NOT the spindles or drum that are damaged. Seriously??? Looking for a new warranty company now!

I have had to call Choice Home Warranty on several occasions recently and each experience was as good as I could ever have expected. The response from CHW was quick and friendly. Technicians were selected and I was able to contact them in a very short time. In one case our garbage disposal unit "froze" and would not budge. The plumbers sent by CHW diagnosed the problem and CHW approved the case and within the hour I had a brand new garbage disposal. The only cost to me was the $45.00 service call fee. In each case, the problem was solved and except for the service call charge, no cost to me. I'm very pleased with this contract and I would recommend Choice Home Warranty.

I only put 1/2 a star because it requires some level of rating to submit. If I could, I'd give them a -5 stars.They are frauds that rob people of their money. They try to deny every claim that is filed. The customer service representatives are not versed in the contract. They give erroneous information in hopes that you are not competent. The contractors that they deal with are unprofessional. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!

I appreciate having a Choice Home Warranty. I have called on them several times in the past year alone. They send out quality service professionals who work within my schedule. Choice Home Warranty provided a full coverage home warranty that was considerably less expensive than other home warranties, but the customer service team is second to none! On a recent service call for my Aprilaire humidifier, I learned that the humidifier was not a covered warranty item; however, Choice hooked me up with a contractor who came out and fixed it at a reduced cost than if I had contacted a contractor on my own. We have an AC issue. The initial technician came out within 24 hours, so I guess that was good, but everything that happened after that went downhill. The technician that came out really just wanted to sell us a new system. He never even opened it up to see what the issue was and just said it was rust. He wanted to charge us $5900, which eventually made it down to $2600. We can't afford a new system right now and the truth was there is a leak that needs to be fixed and there was zero rust which he would have known had he actually bothered to open it up and look.
