Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

This company is a scam. They sent out two companies to fix my AC and when they could not fix it, they said it was a maintenance issue and would not cover it. They are terrible. RUN. They are a SCAM they look for ways not to cover things. I have been with them for over 3 years and each time when they are needed they look for ways not to help.

Placed a claim with Choice Home warranty online and they had dispatched a repair technician for our failed oven within an hour. The technician arrived righ ont time and was able to diagnose the problem within minutes. It did require ordering a repair part which was done immediately and the job should be completed within a few days of filing the claim. The communications from Choice Home warranty were great both telephone messages and e-mails. Thanks Choice for handling this promptly and efficiently.

My air conditioner was not working and so i had to submit a claim online. They gave me a number to call to schedule an appointment for the technician to come out and fix the problem. The available date was the next day and so had to wait. The technician came on the day scheduled but even arrived earlier and he was very professional and pleasant as well. The work was done in about 15 minutes to my surprise and i had my AC working again. Thank you CHW.

Called when my air condition stopped working. The rep. took info and I got a call from a technician the next day. The technician came out that evening. He was very pleasant and wanted to get me up and running as it was hot! He got one zone working and came back the next day to finish because the one compressor was frozen up. The Technician from (A=Family Heating & Air) was a pleasure to work with and knew his business!! Damon gets an A+!!

CHW sucks !!! .... they are scam artists defrauding the public .... they would not fix the failed AC system for my upstairs when it failed using the excuse that " no maintenance " when I had all of my year of records since I bought the house from my maintenance company and the techs affidavit to back up the claim .... would not talk to them or recognize the records impossible to get them on the phone waiting for days .... have morons reading from a script answering the phone rudely and unconcerned about my claim ... no appeal idicating that the phone clerk was the management of the company when I asked for their supervisor they replied " i AM the supervisor" these people should be... Very cordial service person when they took my complaint. Timely assignment of a repair facility. Repair facility contacted me in a timely manner. Repairman showed up as promised at the agreed-upon time and kept me in communication with him prior to his arrival. As expected needed to go back to order the part once he determined the problem. And pending a revisit to fix the problem. Very happy so far.
