Everything that an insurance company can do wrong, Delta Dental does wrong. Refusing to cover procedures that the insurance covers is standard procedure at Delta - they just refuse everything and force the patient to recoup to money Delta owes them. Delta take months, literally, to process anything, including time-sensitive issues. Delta Dentals customer service line is Dante's 3rd level of hell. Just inhuman idiots working the phones over there, whom will refuse to help you with anything regardless of circumstance. It's worse than Comcast. So, in short, do not spent a dime on Delta Dental.

Terrible claims processing. Three claims took 9 phone calls from me, and 4 from the providers over a 5 month period for 2 root canals and a night guard. The claims service reps would first say the company didn't receive the electronically submitted claims, followed by yes, we received the claim but incorrectly said it had the wrong code, and upon the third call indicated they didn't receive the resubmitted claim. The IVR system doesn't give you an option to talk with a claims agent. And neither the IVR system or the claim rep has access to a data base showing received claims until the claim is in a processing status. I just canceled my policy after being a policyholder for years.... Read More

Garbage insurance. I have had issues anytime anything more than a cleaning is needed. Have a big procedure? They'll pay half up front and then make you wait 12 months for the rest. I wish my company offered something different, and I'll surely be voicing my concerns.

Beware, Delta Dental is going to get the last laugh. Yes they may be fine paying claims but they don't bother telling you are signing up for an annual policy that does not revert to month to month after the first year. So when you have a major life event like a new job you cannot cancel your policy. They are going to continue to charge you for the remaining 8 months for you and your family. So yes they are going get the last $200 or more dollars out of you regardless if you get a job with insurance, get married, divorced or anything else. Or you can put yourself in a position to have a collection record on your credit report. Prepare to be screwed because sooner or later you aren't going... Read More

Where is this 5 star review coming from? Not from me or many other reviewers. I had Delta Dental's best plan for several years. Everything was fine as long as I just needed routine preventative care and a couple of cavities fixed. However, after I had partial dentures placed, everything changed. They state they never received the claim. Judging from other reviews, this is apparently a common response from the company. I had $590 left for the year, and they were supposed to pay 50% of the partials. I am dropping the plan immediately. Dealing with Delta Dental is not worth the stress, and I doubt they would ever pay. Wish I could give them zero stars. Where are the consumer... Read More

RIP OFF!! Delta Does NOT pay fair claims - paid $35 for basic filling leaving me to pay remaining $200. Only paid out half of cleanings/exams/X-rays when policy states all preventative care is covered. Save your money - put it into a savings account. Don't hand it over to these RIP OFF ARTISTS!

DO NOT USE DELTA DENTAL!!! over the phone you will be told that your policy will be active in 30 days. THIS IS NOT TRUE! They use the old bait and switch. Your policy will be active in 6 MONTHS! Thats right, 6 MONTHS! AND NO REFUNDS! So to break it down for you, you will pay for 6 months with 0 trips to the dentist! IT IS A SCAM!

THE. WORST. Truly wish I could give zero.. This company has been the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I was assured certain things would be covered when I joined. Then months later, after my dentist had TRIPLE checked things would be covered, they still were not. I was then forced to file a grievance with the company. I received a letter saying I would hear back at a certain date. Weeks after that date, I left multiple messages; still never hearing back. Finally, after calling again, I was told my plan was CANCELED. No word why. Never even followed up once with me. Then, as a final goodbye from the company, I said I wanted to file a formal complaint. They told me they... Read More

THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE - THE 5 STAR RATING IS A SCAM. I tried it back in 2015 and they provided documentation outlining the plan - what is and isn't covered, etc. I received services from my dentist and Delta Dental didn't pay everything they were required to pay based on their plan documents. I immediately cancelled the insurance and elevated the issue to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department to get them to pay. It took three months to get them to pay the required amount but they finally paid. They also said they gave me the "old" plan documents by mistake. They still have to abide by the information they give to their customers. In 2019 I tried them again. I paid my first bill in... Read More

AWFUL customer service. I waited on the phone for about 30 minutes to be connected to an agent. The agent was not helpful with my issue, and I also brought up the wait time for my call. He said the wait time was an error, that my call was accidentally put in the provider queue (I'm an enrolled member). I asked to speak with someone else regarding the issue I called about, and he transferred me...again, very long wait. Still waiting right now. AWFUL SERVICE.
