Coverage - 5 / 5

As a leader in the auto insurance industry, Progressive offers some of the most comprehensive coverages in the market, including basic and additional plans, as well as loan payoff option or gap insurance for drivers whose cars have been declared a total loss.

The company was also the first auto insurer to introduce pet injury coverage for cats and dogs.

$50 from your collision and comprehensive deductible for every claim-free policy period.

Auto policy periods last six months.

In many respects, Progressive has a leg up on the competition, particularly with regards to usage-based insurance options or pay-as-you-drive insurance.

The company’s Snapshot program is among the first of its kind and allows drivers to obtain excellent discounts based on their actual driving habits.

Customers merely have to download an app and drive, the company will then evaluate the users’ driving habits for the first policy period of approximately six months and offer discounts based on the data collected.

Another excellent feature customers are sure to enjoy from this insurer is the “Name Your Price Tool” which offers prospective clients different rates and coverage options based on the price they can afford to pay or expect to pay.

To use this feature, users simply have to request a quote, either online or by phone and provide some basic information regarding their vehicle and driving habits.

Among the companies additional coverages and benefits are Progressive’s roadside assistance program, a loan or lease payoff option, a rental reimbursement coverage, a custom parts and equipment coverage, rideshare coverage (for Uber and Lyft drivers), and its deductible savings bank feature, which allows policyholders to save $50 on collision and comprehensive coverages for every policy period they remain claim free.

Claims Satisfaction & Customer Experience - 5 / 5

Although Progressive has yet to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they hold an A+ rating with the organization.

As of the date of this review, Progressive Corporation holds one out of five stars in the BBB’s customer reviews section.

There have also been little over two thousand complaints filed against the business, with most relating to problems with the company’s products and services.

According to the NAIC, Progressive has a casualty insurance complaint ratio of 1.11, only slightly higher than the median score for private passenger insurance in 2016.

For a lender of its size and market share, these statistics are quite commonplace.

Despite minor negative feedback, Progressive Corporation remains among the most solid alternatives in the current auto insurance market, mostly due to its size, industry experience, and solid financial strength and stability.

Dear Progressive, this is really not OK. I was not given an opportunity to review the cost, your colleagues informed me about the cost of repair after the repair started, the cost of repair seems excessive and questionable, you claimed that my car got repaired 3 days before it actually was - I had to wait for almost a week for a window to be repaired and you handled my complaint in a non-ethical manner. This is really not OK 1) On 06/05 I submitted a claim because my car got broken into. The left front window was shuttered, and the window frame had some minor damage. 2) I purposefully have chosen to take my car to the body shop recommended by the Progressive because I trusted... If there is an option of the negative star, I would have given them a negative rating. I was a customer of progressive auto insurance for 1.5 years. I get an accident in parking zone by some other vehicle. My car passenger side door, side mirror is completely broken. It takes me 48 days to convince progressive to take my car to the mechanic shop while Rainwater destroying my car every day. Even after getting mechanic shop, they don't agree to pay for some parts as according to them it was not happened by accident. Even they ask the mechanic to get the car door and side mirror from the junkyard at the cheapest rate possible. For the first 48 days, they did not pay for the rental car and did... Read More

We moved to Florida from Connecticut and needed to transfer insurance to this state. Progressive informed us our monthly payments would be double the payments in Connecticut. We shopped around and located another car insurance company for the same payment as CT. The new insurer sent a letter signed by me to authorize cancellation. Progressive kept sending payment requests for $209. Progressive claims you cannot cancel your insurance without a 90 day notice, even though we presented all of the details requested several times. After 10 years with Progressive, they have dumped us in the trash with no concern. They could just waive the $209, since they have billions and really don't need the... Read More

Don't go down this rabbit hole of disgrace. Save your time and money. This (I'm not sure what they should be considered) is nothing short of a bad joke you will never truly be able to rely on. It's sad to say, but you would be better off driving uninsured than doing business with what I can't even justify calling a company or business. Simply, a company has both integrity and honesty with its customers. You cannot not expect to receive this basic standard from Progressive. However, should you choose to do so I have a recommendation that may help: Try eating (yes, eating. Its crunchy) some mystery, possibly a liquid, substance off the street in Tijuana. If you don't get sick,... Read More

Not a good company. I would not recommend using them. My husband and I have two vehicles insured with them. The road side assistance takes forever. I even had a situation where the people they sent out stated they came and did not. We pay a nice amount in insure. My husbands car was stolen and they did absolutely nothing. Very poor with customer. They will do any and everything to not help you. It’s ridiculous. They continue to raise prices. Just really not a good company. Do your homework before considering this company.

Been a client since 2013..excellent credit, stellar driving record, never had a claim. I have full coverage on a ten year old car, never missed a payment or been late. After reaching the “diamond level “ of discounts which took years, my policy jumps up 10 dollars.. wiping away all the discounts it took me years to acquire. I contacted them and was given multiple bs excuses, starting with the natural disasters in my area, Which there have been none since 2012 and I’ve been given multiple discounts since then, second because of the amount of accidents in my area (?)... after questioning all this I was basically told because of my discounts, my increase could have been much higher... so I... Beware of this company, in September of 2020 our 2018 chev equinox was hit while seating in our driveway at 1:00 in morning. This company takes advantage of elderly people the adjuster was real rude. My car never had a scratch on it, only had 40,000 miles I wanted it fixed with new parts they put used parts would not pay for new parts. The one who hit my car had progressive what a sorry co. They said the car was drivable but it was not the taillights were broke out. Again sorry Insurance co.

Progressive has serious issues reminding you if you missed a payment. Myself and MANY others have had situations where we were on autopay, get a new credit card replacement, and then only get 1 single email from progressive that 'their was an issue with your payment' which gets buried with all your other emails. They give you a discount to go paperless, but then only send you 1 email about a missed payment?? then the next time you get ANY reminders is after your policy has already lapsed in coverage. We also were signed up for text message reminders yet when we reviewed our texts, we didn't receive even 1 text reminder! ALL of our texts only say they will be billing us in 3 days, that's...
