Overall Rating: 2.2 / 5 (Average)

For 40 years, Old Republic Home Protection has remained among the three largest home warranty companies in the industry, providing comprehensive coverages for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents alike. Although their plans offer full protection for most systems and appliances, they can be rather pricey depending on the area of coverage and size of the home. Overall, Old Republic is a reliable option for anyone looking for enhanced protection and round-the-clock claims processing.

Claims Processing - 3.5 / 5

Old Republic charges a different trade call fee, ranging from $55 to $100, depending on the state, size, and condition of the home. They have the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage can begin, a 30-day recall period on labor, and mostly restrict customers to their network of contractors, unless they have been previously authorized by the company. Nevertheless, Old Republic does have a 24/7 claims department, which many customers find convenient and isn't offered by all home warranty companies.

This company has very poor service quality. Their contractors are not screened properly and their system is broken. Recently i had a stoppage in a kitchen/garage[washer] due to common kitchen line clogged. They signed up contractor who was 3hrs away though there were contractors in the same zipcode. After waiting 3-days i get a visit by 'county plumbing' who made no effort to clean the stoppage but reported back to ORHP that the stoppage wast not cleanable. The same problem was fixed in 2012 by company in my area "street plumbing" so i asked ORHP to give me the number. I decided to call them to have it fixed , which obviously did. I paid from my pocket. Now ORHP doesn't want to refund me.... Read More

This company is very difficult to work with. Each of the 4 times I have had to call them to make a service request I have had problems with the customer service, the repair company they sent out, or their billing department not having record of me making the trade call fee, which is $60 per issue. I do not recommend this company.

DON'T GET A HOME WARRANTY FROM OLD REPUBLIC. I have had home warranties with Home Republic on three (3) properties in Arizona for years. Last year I had to submit five (5) claims, of which only two required any real repair. The A/C unit had to be repaired twice. The second time was because the first repair person failed to make the required repair and just refilled the freon instead of fixing the problem. I called to renew my warranty and was advised they would no longer warranty the property. The sales person could not give a reason why they would not renew my policy. I was transferred to a supervisor at my request. The supervisor stated if you have to many claims they can refuse to renew... Read More

AC broke Thurs night, called first thing Fri morning and couldn't get through to anyone. Kept putting me on hold and eventually hung up on me and said I would be put in queue for a call back. Hours pass and I call again and finally get through. Am given a work order number and told I will get a call from the AC co. Hours pass and no call. Call them and can't get through to anyone, leave a message. Kept calling back until finally around 4 pm get through to a person. Am told I can't get an appointment until Monday. In Florida. In the summer. The AC company actually told me that they put their clients first before the home warranty clients (which is why I hadn't gotten called back). I... Read More

Between the date I closed on my house, and the date I actually moved in, a week later, my controller board for the touch screen on my range top failed. I filed a claim with Old Republic. After the technician came out, they denied my claim, telling me that the technician filed a report saying this could not have failed during the time I had the warranty, it had to have been pre-existing. I spoke to the technician. He told me he absolutely did not tell them that, not to mention the fact that it would be impossible for him to be able to tell exactly when a computer board failed. So Old Republic FLAT OUT LIED TO ME in order to get out of paying on a claim. I'm sure the reason my claim... Read More
