AmericanHomeWarranty.org is a good resource to compare quotes from three leading home warranty providers. However, it is unclear if the marketplace represents, or will represent, offers from companies beyond Choice Home Warranty, Select Home Warranty, and Total Home Protection. A more robust suite of competitors would offer more competition and offers for consumers to choose from. That being said, AmericanHomeWarranty.org does offer access to differing plans which makes for more opportunities for customization than normal. In fact, it is one of the first marketplaces specifically geared toward providing competing quotes from home warranty providers we've ever seen.

As AmericanHomeWarranty.org seems to be affiliated with Choice Home Warranty, Select Home Warranty, and Total Home Protection, we've surveyed those three plans in order to judge coverage options. Policies provided through AmericanHomeWarranty.org will get you more or less standard coverage options when compared to other providers in the home warranty industry. However, each company offers a different plan structure. Choice has a Basic and Total plan, the only difference is that Basic doesn't cover AC, refrigerator, and washer & dryer. Select has three plans which more or less break down along the traditional systems, appliances, or both lines. All three companies represented by AmericanHomeWarranty.org offer customers a $60 service fee. This is a bit less than most other home warranty companies as a whole. All other aspects of claims and service are fairly standard. There is a 30-day waiting period before you can make claims, and each company reserves the right to request maintenance records, particularly for home systems like AC and heating, before they approve repair. You must use in network contractors and each has a 24/7 claims department.

It is difficult to accurately judge the reputation of a home warranty provider as the entire industry seems to pull in an inordinate amount of negative reviews. These mainly have to do with the company denying coverage based on contract technicalities. However, home warranty companies, in general, have been improving in this area over the last few years. All three companies you can be connected with through AmericanHomeWarranty.org have received B-C range grades from the BBB. Choice Home Warranty is the oldest of the three, starting operations in 2008. As always we suggest you thoroughly scrutinize the contract restrictions of the company you choose prior to purchase. So many of the companies we've seen over the years are clearly outlined in a given company's contract exclusions.

I've been getting spammed by this company for months. The latest was a "check" for $5,000 - IF I supply them with my Zip Code. As I said; they've been sending me these emails for months now. The emails usually find their way to the spam folder, so I haven't really paid them much heed. I recently created a filter in my gmail which caused it to stop going to spam. To be perfectly honest, I've assumed it was spam from an online casino until today. Yes; the email really is that bad. I'd supply a screenshot if it were allowed. This company is simply terrible. I cannot imagine how they are listed in the top ten. We purchased this coverage when we bought our home, did not use for over a year. We had our home AC go out in the middle of Aug. (In Houston TX) and reported it to American home warranty. It took a few days to get a technician out (but I understand a busy time for AC. Works) but when the guy comes we expected him to find the problem and repaire all, but that’s not the case he identified the issue but left saying he had to report it and get all approved. After not hearing anything we started calling American home warranty and we just got a run around stating it was in process, then it was awaiting approval... Read More

Terrible customer service. Was a customer because the seller purchased the plan at closing. When making attempts to file a claim for a damaged residential HVAC unit. Original quote for coverage barely covered the service call to determine the faults. When questioning the amount for reimbursement a new quote was provided with no rational determination for the change. The change still did not cover more than a quarter for the repairs. Had to wait for 4 weeks to get the check. The excuse was they were the department was overwhelmed. Not sure how they made the top 10. I have since changed the policy to another provider who I had previously used at another home, with excellent and timely... Read More

I am not sure how this company got anything above a 2 Star rating. It must've been their employees. I've had two different plumbers go to the property & give two different excuses as to why the warranty doesn't cover a constant drip thru the ceiling. Neither poked a hole in the wall to verify the problem. So I had my own contractor open the wall and found that a pipe was leaking. Still this FAHW company will not fix. Can you believe that?! This company is in business to collect the monthly fee, that's it!! The persons coming to your home are NOT qualified to diagnose a problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Not worth your money or headache.

I have waited five days for an approved contractor to come repair our central AC. The first contractor was non-responsive, the second slammed. No one from First American was able to reach a contractor...I reached the second contractor, and they will be here Saturday...one week after First American was first contacted.. A woman, Carlota Roberts is in charge of our claim. She was to reach out to me yesterday, Wednesday, never happened. I have left three messages on her machine, she never returned my calls. From where I stand, she is irresponsible, and does not do her job. Once our contract ends, I will walk away from this do nothing group. Stay away, you’ll be better off.

You stink. I have been waiting forTWO MONTHS you have still not fixed our air conditioner This is the third season you have jerry Jerry rigged it finally a company that you have working for you told what you’ve done but you still haven’t fixed it !!!!!!!!! You have sent the wrong parts multiple times we have picked out a new home and are waiting to put ours on the market but you’re holding us up if we lose our deposit and that house I am going to sue you at the Y zoo You’re incompetence is un believable Every other time we’ve used you it took longer than it should but not too dang months
