VRBO is a travel search engine which is a registered trademark of HomeAway.com. It offers information on over 2 million house rentals worldwide with more than 25,000 pet-friendly properties to choose from. It also provides detailed listings on properties such as those with free baby and kid amenities.

Services and Features

VRBO makes searching for a vacation rental simple by letting you enter a destination and travel dates. It also has search filters which lets travellers narrow down results. Travellers can inquire on 3 or more properties which increases their chance of booking. It also has a “Book it Now” option to select a listing.

The company ensures that the money spent vacation is covered with its Cancellation and Damage Protection. This covers non-refundable refundable trip costs in case customers need to cancel their trip due to selected reasons. Typically, vacation rental payments become non-refundable 30 to 90 days in advance of the arrival date. With Cancellation Protection, consumers can insure their trip cost of up to $50,000 if they need to cancel and reimburse due to covered events such as flight cancellations, mandatory evacuation, job loss, injury, sickness, and more.

Damage Protection helps travellers be protected against expenses incurred due to accidentally damage a vacation rental property. This can reimburse travellers if their refundable damage deposit is withheld due to a covered loss. Coverage is offered starting from $59 up to $1,500 with no deductible.

VRBO is a joke. They do not support the consumer. They are scripted in their responses, they do not do what they say theyre going to do, and they are hackers! Ive never been so disgusted in my life! The property manager of my recent stay charged me a $500.00 incidental fee for damages that were there before we arrived. Ive spent countless hours on the phone and online chat with her AND VRBO. They did absolutely nothing. The property manager went on her listing and edited the description and deleted all her reviews. She opened up a new listing which is where MY review ended up. We rented a place in west palm Beach. No contact with owner for check in. Also when we called cust. Service phone was disconnected we were told. Arrived at property and it was abandoned for several months at least. Place still available on VRBO. Refused refund. Called credit card for refund. aVOID these people.bad need and ratings reflect it

VRBO helped my wife and I after a property management company cancelled our reservation. Two weeks before our vacation we learned that the property owner had taken the property away from the management company and that our reservation had been moved to a different property, without our permission. VRBO helped us reach out to the property owner and salvage a part of our stay. They also found other properties for us to use for the days where we didn't have a place to stay. If you can be patient, VRBO will do the right thing. Thanks VRBO!

My husband and I reserved a condo in Kissemmee for 2 months , January and February 2022. The reservation was cancelled by the owner. Our money was returned . So we found another condo and reserved it. Again our reservation was cancelled by the owner. Apparently it had been sold. We are still trying to get our money refunded. It has been several months since they cancelled. My husband called the owner a couple of times and was told " gove me a couple of days ." Finally we disputed the charge through our credit card and are STILL waiting for a refund. It is not right that we can't get a refund . THEY CANCELLED, we didn't. I would never trust VRBO again.

I booked a stay for labor day weekend in Chicago. The host cancelled on us last minute. VRBO did very little to assist in finding another comparable stay. They pushed properties that were double the price and did not offer any financial assistance. I called their customer support, sent emails, sent messages on Twitter. After multiples of these communications, they finally said that I qualified for their financial assistance reimbursement. I booked a trip that the price difference would be covered. I am now 2 months after the trip trying to get my reimbursement from VRBO and it has proven to be extremely difficult and they're not helpful. I will never be using VRBO again. I have put... My Vrbo host did not respond. Vrbo customer service promised me a hotel and a different Vrbo but never got back to me. They left me stranded in the middle of DC with a pregnant wife and a dead phone while paying over $600 for a hotel on a teacher's budget. I spent over 90 minutes on the phone with them, but never got my hotel. Terrible experience.

At one time VRBO/Homeaway was a platform I liked to use as an owner and we had some great success first few years. Constant changes in the platform and horrible support where as they were more than willing to listen but did nothing to correct what in fact they created for problems has left me with a wish to completely disconnect from them. They are completely disconnected from the owner, admit often that they caused the problem and yet take away ranking for the very problem they created. Innisbrook condo 9/3 to 9/6 WORST CONDO EVER broken coffee maker, dirty balcony cob webs all over, cable and wifi cords strewn all over the floor. Ratty lumpy brown ugly sofa bed, Bathroom so small and bad no one could take a shower and no one did. I was totally and absolutely embarrassed for my guests who were clearly displeased. For this much money the service Florida Vacation Rentals and VRBO should be ashamed. I will never use either VRBO or Fl Va rentals again ever, Innisbrook, 2250 Canterburry Innisbrook golf club. Looks like a room from the 1940. Table had stains and looks like the furniture came from a consignment shop never again

Had a rental on Davis Park that was horrific our family traveled 8 hours and no other homes were available ,VRBO was useless we sent pictures that showed the disrepair and masterfully distorted pictures that the owner submitted.No help we were stuck 8000 dollars wasted never again VRBO Avoid the handkerchief house you will need lots of Kleenex!

It is the worse company, its customer service is horrible and they do not honor the cancelation policy regarding the weather issues that are out of our control, such as the fire on South Lake Tahoe. We are not able to reschedule or be relocated to any other place that they might have available. Unreliable, not a trustworthy company at all. Long time on hold, they don't answer emails, I will never more do business with them. It is the worse experience ever.
