This year we bought two policies with travelinsurance.com. Both were John Hancock's Silver policy. We would not use travelinsurance.com again because they would not post our review of our negative experience with John Hancock and its servicing contractor Seven Corners. Notice how most of the reviews on this website are positive, to help in selling policies. This favors insurers over the insureds by keeping insurers in a positive light by hiding reviews of those customer insureds who filed claims and had a negative outcome. I was very impressed with the initial interaction with web representative and purchased a policy. Yet, when I needed to file a claim on a trip that had been cancelled for one of our parties, I could not get ahold of anyone and got a complete run around. When I finally was able to talk to the web representative again and get an email to get a claim form, the claim is nearly impossible to file- 11 items needed and a doctors note saying why you could not travel- even for a positive covid test for a country that will not let you get a travel visa if you test psoitive for covid? A claim form must be filled out with the insurer in order to file a claim and have it processed. I need to post this as a bit of a retraction about TravelInsurance.com (TI.com) --Initially I had a very poor experience with an insurance company that I bought a policy from through Travel Insurance.com. I thought for sure that TI.com was in collusion with this agency to defraud customers when I failed to get my policy honored after over 6 months of repeated efforts and unanswered emails. My experience with travel insurance.com is that they are disgraceful. I ordered CSA/Generalli insurance through their website and my cruise and flights were cancelled by the operators due to COVID-19 restrictions, and therefore, I no longer need insurance3. I tried to contact the company by phone to get a refund but their recorded message says that all CSA refund requests must be handled on their website. When I entered my information, the website only gives me the option of getting a VOUCHER. The last thing I need is another travel voucher. THEY WON'T EVEN SPEAK TO ME, AND IT SEEMS FROM PREVIOUS COMMENTS THAT I AM NOT ALONE. I feel that I was taken advantage of and I can't even speak with... Read More

Please note that we are TravelInsurance.com, a third party aggregator that sells many different travel insurance policies from multiple providers. 1) We are not the policy administrator or insurer and do not have access to customer claims or policy administration after purchase. Inquiries about cancellation of policies or claims will need to be pursued directly with the insurance provider, which in this case is CSA Travel Protection / Generali Global Assistance. 2) When a customer purchases an insurance policy via TravelInsurance.com, the insurer (in this case, CSA Travel Protection/Generali Global Assistance) is the final merchant of record, as indicated on the customer’s credit card statement. TravelInsurance.com is not the merchant of record and doesn't receive any customer funds from the credit card purchase. We do not mark up the prices of the insurance in any way shape or form. 3) Instantly upon purchase, the insurer (CSA Travel Protection / Generali Global Assistance) emailed the policy documents to your email address and TravelInsurance.com also sent you an order confirmation email. In the email from CSA / Generali, the insurer provided their contact information (phone number) and information about their 10 day free look period. This means the customer can use that contact information to contact the insurer at any time. You also could have cancelled the policy within the 10 day free look period. Given that you wanted to cancel outside of the insurer’s free look period, the insurer decided to make a one time concession to customers affected by COVID-19 to offer them a voucher for the full value of their travel insurance policy to be used on a policy for a future trip. The insurer is not under obligation to do this when outside of the 10 day free period, but offered it to help customers affected by COVID-19. You were not happy that you were offered a voucher by the insurer and we understand that. In looking at the history of your communications with TravelInsurance.com, our team members responded nearly instantly to all of your concerns and I am happy to report that in the end, we were able to help get you a full refund of 100% of the premium paid to CSA / Generali, applied to the credit card you used when purchasing. I was able to compare a lot of different plans and companies on travelinsurance.com and am generally pleased with the service. Our travel agent offered us a plan for $288 and I was able to find better coverage for almost $50 less. Would recommend this to others.
