Pets Best provides pet owners with a lot of latitude in selecting the right coverage for their pet and the best plan for their budgets. Its plans are quite comprehensive and comparatively low-cost.

The company offers two benefit limit choices: $5000 or unlimited. We prefer plans that offer the option of unlimited coverage, particularly when adding it doesn't drive costs sky-high. That's the case with Pets Best.

Pets Best has no age restriction; they will cover dogs and cats regardless of how old they are. The company does not exclude cruciate ligament issues so long as they occur after a 6-month waiting period. That's a significant competitive advantage for owners of dogs susceptible to that type of illness. In addition, plans include coverage for accidental dental and some dental illnesses.

Would give this a 0 if I could. Completely jerked us around while we waiting for our claim to be appealed only to find out they withheld what they view as "genetic" and " signs and symptoms". I was robbed of months of payments as well as not reimbursed for any of the specialist appointments that were to be covered in my plan. W canceled before our appeal was finished as to not waste anymore of our money because the information the insurance agent informed us of, far too late, is that even if your pet was born they way they are and there is no definitive evidence that they were not "symptomatic" the claim will be denied. Please do not get this insurance.

Hi Emily, we are sorry to hear you had a negative experience with Pets Best. “Pre-existing” is defined as any condition that was present before the policy effective date, even if it wasn’t formally diagnosed by a veterinarian. This also includes anything that develops during your waiting period. So, if your pet has any health conditions that were present before your policy began, those conditions won’t be covered by any pet insurance plan, even if you’re not sure what’s wrong with your pet. Waste of money & time! Not only did they provide no service whatsoever, they continued to contact one of my vets (a specialist my pets don't see very often) repeatedly after the vet had already sent them the requested information to the point the vet got mad at me for having that insurance. My other vet, who is my main vet, made the very reasonable request that PetsBest send her an email or letter listing what the information they needed was, since all PetsBest would do is leave a vague phone message asking for 'more information'. They never did as she asked, and they never paid a single claim. I cancelled this horrible 'insurance' and plan to start a savings account for my pets instead.

Pet best is very dishonest, unethical and biggest scam company I have ever come across. They will find every possible reason to reject your claim, and if they don’t, they will make that up. I am grateful to realize this now, only after 3 months of paying premium on 2 dogs. Stay away from them and don’t believe their b.s.

In this case, your veterinarian's records showed claimed condition for Lizzy originated prior to the effective date of the policy. I submitted eight claims and they reimbursed ZERO ! supposedly prescriptions are covered--NOT !!! Nothing met their criteria - even emergency service. What an absolute waste of money!! Stay away!

Hi Bonita, We understand your concern. Our records show we received three claims for Zeus. Two were for a condition that carries a six month waiting period and the condition occurred in the first 14 days of the policy. Therefore not covered by the insurance. The third claim filed was unable to process for lack of medical records. If you would like us to reopen the claim, please provide the required information as we have been unsuccessful working with your vet.

Horrible company! I got the best plan they had and then they denied every claim for anything other then the wellness visits, giving me different reasons every time. There is ZERO piece of mind with this company!

Pet's Best is absolutely the worst insurance carrier. Everything is a pre existing condition. The representatives with whom a person speaks is rude, unprofessional, and have no customer service skills whatsoever. Run away from this company and run very, very, very fast!

Based on your veterinarian medical records, the chronic condition claimed originated in 2015 which is two years prior to the purchase of the policy, deeming claimed condition pre-existing and not covered. I am not surprised to see all the one star ratings. I have been with them a number of years. But when I went to add a new dog there was a problem - not with the dog, but with Pets Best. I sent a formal complaint to the Department of Insurance. We deliver 10-15 puppies per year. We will not be recommending this company. The customer service and policies are terrible.

After reading the reviews of others who have had huge price increases after fiuling a claim I have decided that Pets Best is not a company with which I want to do business. Pet insurance companies seem to be able to get away with every one of the most objectionable practices that have led to regulation of the human health insurance industry.

I have used this company for a few years now and not only did the premiums practically double, now they are being cheap on payback. Even if you had one large bill, they still break it down and pay you back what they see fit.

In order for us to determine the adequate premium we need to maintain our services, we analyze total claims data related to pet age, breed, geographic location, and factor in general inflation. Rates are based on nothing more than the risk your pet represents. Older pets tend to see higher rates because their odds of health issues are increasing, as well as the odds that those issues are going to be more expensive.
