Excellent moving experience with Big Ben's moving and storage yesterday. Showed up early (15 minutes early) which was unexpected and impressive, given that I was given a time frame of 1-3 pm for their arrival. Everything was handled with excellent care. All my stuff made it from point a to point b in one piece. The movers themselves were extremely profesional, polite and efficient. Break down and set up of furniture was perfect. Overall I would highly recommend them if you are moving within North Carolina because it will make the hectic moving process much easier. Thank you so much! Highly recommend and would use them again next time I move.
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!! BEYOND HORRIBLE!! Don't be fooled, like I was, by the appearance of their marketing ("the veteran owner," etc.), the appearance of their website, and the sales guy, named, Joe Campbell. Big Bens actually runs more like a scam, if not they actually are. At this point, I am not even sure whether my stuff will be delivered to my new address from their East Coast Warehouse. Here's an account of my experience, which I hope would be helpful to people: A. PLEASE READ THIS. Ben's Moving and and storage is not a legitimate moving company. They broker every job out to the low cost mover. Have you ever seen a Bens moving and storage truck? Salesman Joe Campbell is a scam artist. He will ghost you after you sign. You will never hear from him again and he will not return your calls. 4 day laborers showed up with a Budget rental truck. My move started out at $9k and ended up $17k. They move by cubic ft and not weight so the more boxes they pack half full, the more money the make. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY OR JOE CAMPBELL.
Big Ben's Moving & Storage seemed like the best choice based my research and review especially after reading that quoted price was actual price and staff wore uniforms. Unfortunately, neither were experienced by me. I realize they can subcontract the work but we were shocked when we saw one of the movers come in wearing a tshirt from a competing moving company! In fact, it was the competing company that they "lowered our quote" for when I sent it to BB's for a price match. No masks or consideration of COVID. I was very disappointed with this company. Their sales agent seemed great until he got the sale, then borderline radio silence when I continued to have questions. I was told I wouldn't have to pay for anything that wasn't moved (if my cubic footage actual move was less than my quote I wouldn't be charged for the difference). The contract said we would be charged for the quote unless we had the quote updated 7 days in advance. The sales agent told me just to call a few days ahead to update the quote and it would be fine (note I had asked to have contract language amended prior to signing to ensure this wouldn't be an issue, and he said it would all be ok). Bait and Switch and lies about service, delivery eta and customer service is horrible. Worst experience of my life. Lie #1 : Called to get a quote, their sales person Chris's first word out of his mouth was, "have you heard of all the horror stories with moving". I told him yes I am familiar and I do not want my furniture and boxes shipped in a 18 wheeler and brokers using freight companies to ship. He assured me that the people that pick up the furniture will be the ones that deliver it in a 26 feet box truck. Worst moving experience ever. Miss quoted price . Not honest. Lost and damaged goods. No correspondence with claim process. Still waiting.
I have used Big Ben's moving & storage for two moves, and my experience on both occasions was fantastic. Not only was Mitch patient and professional when providing the initial cost estimate, his workers were extremely professional on the day of the move. Both of my moves took a full day because I needed their help with packing boxes, as well as moving furniture.With the exception of a short lunch, the guys worked diligently the entire time, engaging with me throughout the day regarding where to place boxes and furniture in my new home. I contacted Big Ben's moving and storage to help me ship an item from Arizona to California. Having never done this before I wasn’t sure how to manage the logistics of such a move. Enter Big Ben's movers and their incredible manager, Mitch. He is the nicest guy, 100% professional and gets the job done seamlessly. I never had a less than positive interaction with Mitch and he kept me informed of the move’s progress every step of the way. He under-promised and really over-delivered. He quoted me 10 days of shipping time and I received the shipment in two days. I can’t recommend Big Ben's moving enough for their services and professionalism.
