Eargo hearing aids help wearers process and understand speech more clearly, amplifying mid and high auditory frequencies. The company's products were designed by an ENT surgeon with more than thirty years' experience in the field with thousands of patients. Products were subsequently tested by audiologists and hearing professionals before being put into production. Since wearers generally need time to readjust to the hearing audio frequencies they may have missed for years--similar to how eyes adjust to glasses or contacts--Eargo has built a team of licensed personal hearing professionals to help each client through this process.

Eargo Product Offerings

Hearing Aid Style - 4.5 / 5

Eargo devices are extremely discreet. They're so invisible, you truly have to look very closely to see the tiny black end of their hearing aids. Eargo is also very attentive to comfort. Their patented Flexis, made from medical-grade silicone, help their devices rest comfortably in the ear and allows natural, ambient-lost frequencies to pass through into the eardrum. Eargo's least expensive product, the Max, was named one of Time Magazine's Best Inventions of 2018. The device also won the Gold Clio and Red Dot awards for Product Design and was touted as 'a new breed of tech company' by the New York Times.

The company's newest product is the Eargo 6 with Sound Adjust, which automatically optimizes the soundscape as you move between environments. The Eargo 6 is water-resistant for up to 30 minutes at a water depth of less than one meter, and features patented, medical-grade, silicone petal tips that come in two sizes and two styles. The Eargo 6 is competitively priced when compared to traditional hearing aids at $2,950 for a pair of devices. It recharges in just 4 hours, after which it provides 16 hours of continuous use. All of Eargo's products are distinguished by excellent on-demand support from hearing professionals for as long as you use your device.

Eargo kits come with left and right devices, two sizes of Flexis (regular and large), charger units, cleaning tools, and more. Every purchase comes with free lifetime support.

Eargo offers two types of warranties that come standard with its products. There is a 12 or 24-month manufacturer warranty that covers manufacturing defects. This will be void if the wearer modifies or damages the unit(s). Eargo also includes an uncommon loss & damage warranty which will cover devices that are lost or damaged beyond repair. In such cases, the company will send you replacements at a discounted rate.

Eargo's website also features live chat, an extensive FAQ section, and a library of videos where customers can learn more about the company's hearing aid technology.

When I heard that Federal Employees could receive Eargos at no cost I jumped all over it. It was true, they did not cost me a cent. My Federal Employee Blue Cross Insurance fully covered the cost. I really wanted the devices to work. I spent three weeks after receiving them trying everything to make them work for me. I experienced two problems that I was ultimately unable to resolve. The first problem was uncontrollable itching in my ear canals after the devices had been in for as little as one hour. The problem was so bad that I was compelled to remove them when the itching became intolerable. I tried all of the various tips along with some aloe in the ear canals. The itching was a... Read More

Dear Richard. I'm terribly sorry you had this experience. As a 31 year veteran of audiology and the hearing aid industry, problems like yours can happen. It definitely sounds as though you worked hard to make Eargo hearing aids fit your needs, but sadly they simply were not for you. For different people the ear canal can be dry or or very "waxy". Also, the TMJ is right under the ear canal and when yawning or eating, some people can experience movement of any hearing aid thus resulting in feedback. As far as your insurance benefit, Eargo will refund the money with your insurance company and work to have your benefit reinstated quickly. Again, thank you for giving Eargo a try and we wish you good luck finding a hearing aid solution that works for you.

I love my hearing aids. I love how you can adjust them through your smart phone and they are so comfortable. I had worn behind the ear aids before and wanted something that went directly in the ear and these are exactly what I hoped they would be. I highly recommend these.

When I got my eargo’s about a year ago I became painfully aware that I had very small ear canals. They sent some new fins and told me how to trim them, then they sent samples of ear lubricant. I tried wearing them without any coverings...I was ready to return near the end of the trial period, but then the nice consultant said they were actively working on a new tip for small ears. A year later nothing has changed and they sit in a drawer. They are slick talkers if nothing else.

Hi Laura. Thank you for reaching out. Yes, on occasion some people with small ear canals need extra attention to get Eargo (or any hearing aid) to fit comfortably. I reviewed your case and our team of hearing professionals did try and resolve the fit for you the best way we could at the time. The good news is that we do have the small Flexi Fiber tips available now and I have arranged to have a complimentary set shipped to you. Please use the lubricant in combination with the new tips when they arrive. You'll also want to give your Eargos a good charge so they're ready to go.

Feedback is still a problem even after changing to the bigger palms. l can be watching TV and not moving around and I get feedback. No luck with using a phone except on speaker which is no good in a crowd. Will try other tomorrow. If we can get the feedback problem resolved I will most likely keep the Eargos.

2 weeks in so far so good in this journey as I had a coworker blow out my eardrums 3 years ago with deafening basement music. Good fit. Getting some feedback especially in programs 3 and 4. Especially when near electronics. I usually keep mine in program 1 and 2. I increased the bass and treble +1 each. Hopefully these Neo Hifi's will last me 3 to 5 years with no issues.

I've been an Eargo customer for almost 3 years now. The first set I had lasted about a year and a half before dying. It was then that I realized that these units are not made to last years like most quality hearing aids. The batteries will no longer hold charge after about 500 charges, so a year and a half if you wear daily. This should be made very clear on their website, or by their sales team, but it is not mentioned anywhere, ever. So to be fair when comparing to real hearing aids that cost $5,000, realize that those will last many years, whereas you'll be spending $2,000 every year to year and a half with Eargo products. Since having to replace mine, I was fortunate enough to... Read More

Dear Mr. Harraka. We appreciate you reaching out through Consumer's Advocate. I'm sorry you have had difficulty with your Eargo devices and we'll do our best to rectify the situation. First, all of our devices are rated to last 1,000 charging cycles which equates to 3 years of use. Without a detailed report from our clinical team, I can't explain why they are not lasting for you. According to your record, your current replacement devices are still under warranty through September 25, 2021. I don't know why you would have been told something different, but you are under warranty. The first generation product you bought in 2017 we stopped supporting for a number of reasons and we have provided all those customers using original devices generous discounts to upgrade into our newer technology that has more robust features. In regard to the volume level not being strong enough, I wonder if your hearing could have changed since you originally purchased from us. If you have a recent hearing test, you can email it to hearinghelp@eargo.com and one of our professionals could review it. The newest Eargo devices are much stronger and have programming features through the Eargo app and can also be customized by our hearing professional team to maximize their performance. I am going to reach out to you personally to help you with this situation.

My hearing loss is low to moderate in my left ear, moderate in my right - caused by too much Jimmy Hendrix and skeet shooting without high-tech protection. I'm fortunate it's not worse. Hearing conversations when out at dinner/happy hour became an issue I could no longer ignore in June 2019, An Eargo ad motivated me to try them. The sound took some getting used to but the scheduled call with an audiologist addressed most of my questions - subsequent calls from the audiologist resolved the rest. Customer service has been excellent - I had one side fail - the replacement was in my hands within a few days. Audiologists are quick to respond. The new app for Android and IOS is easy to...
