UHC is the worst insurance I've had. Incorrect invoice processing, claim went to the wrong provider, the representatives tell different solutions, each phone call to correct their mistakes takes over an hour and more than one call, refused to reimburse....the list goes on and on. Great doctors/providers don't accept them. I would not choose them if I had a choice. It is provided by my employer.

I have been with UHC for a little over a year now. Just about every claim that is submitted on my behalf is a mess. I have spent time appealing most of my claims only to find out UHC staff did something wrong. I spent one hour and a half on one call with them today and got nowhere. So, now again, am filing another appeal. Member services thinks they are right and sometimes they are not. On my way to Humana for open enrollment. My sister has it and has no problems as I have been having with UHC. I am trying to find some places to write letters that can be effective so they wake up.

Dealing with UnitedHealthCare has given me all of the justification I need to advocate single payer government managed health care insurance. Affordable health care is both a right and a responsibility, and the quality of care should be motivated by a healthy population, NOT corporate profit margins.

Terrible coverage and high premiums. To top it off their customer service representatives are useless. They could not provide me basic information on what my plan covers. I did not get my questions resolved, and am completely disappointed in their customer service. On a previous call, I asked at which labs I could get bloodwork done, since the nearby labs appeared to cost $800 to run the test, looking at the UHC cost estimator. The rep I spoke with said he found another option for me that would be about $200, significantly cheaper... However, when I received a text with the info after we hung up, I found out that the lab was actually 150 miles away! Completely ridiculous and useless for me.

Would rate UHC zero stars if it were possible. Their premiums are far too high. They are shady about hiding third-party fees. They aren't clear about what they will/will not cover and what the patient will be required to pay out-of-pocket. Their customer service wait time is excessively long. Their customer service representatives are unhelpful because they are not knowledgeable about their products/system. You just get a run-around of circle talking and absolutely no resolution. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with them since my company's board of directors doesn't seem to care about the "peons" and opt for the cheapest option for their own ledgers.

Terrible company to deal with. I have had them for 12 years now, and when I needed to rely on their doctors for three surgeries, they were all failures and terrible doctors to deal with. When you have to deal with the company itself, the process it always long, drawn out, and something you always regret afterwards. You can file complaints, but they don't go anywhere and they don't have to do anything to fix their quality of care. I have always hated having to deal with this company and after three failed surgeries and having to pay into an insurance company for 12 years to end up with disfigurement, chronic pain problems, and three failed surgeries because they use incompetent doctors.... The worst. Call them and they will tell you something different each time and create a run around. Horrible waste of time and money. Really the worst !!

United Health care has been a good company to work with , however LEGACY, who they contract with in my state is terrible. The two companies are in conflict in the way United Health Care promises certain things and Legacy will not honor. Legacy Health system is really a poor system to be involved with . My doctor was not educated well and made a very bad medical call, the office 'lost' my paperwork to change doctors twice and after nine months of waiting to change and NOT have a PCP, I left. I also got calls cancelling appointments I made because in error, they thought I was medicate(never have been) instead of medicare. Overall, Legacy health demonstrates a indifferent attitude toward the... Read More

More and more physicians, pathologists, emergency rooms, etc. are not accepting UHC. I went to an ER that was part of the plan and then received a $900 bill for the ER doctor who is not in the plan. I had surgery which was pre-approved, but received several invoices later from physician's assistant and pathologists who are not part of the plan. A pre-approved procedure has ended up costing me several thousand dollars. I will switch from UHC during the next enrollment period and would advise anyone to avoid them.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST, DO NOT BUY THEIR BAD INSURANCE. First, super expensive premiums. Second, denied payment of medically necessary tests (MRI) that were ordered by Dr. - this was not an elective test. Third, they have an arbitrary and mysterious system for applying your out of pocket cost to the deductible, which is never explained. Out of $3,000 I had to pay out of pocket, only $500 was "allowed" and applied to my 3,000 deductible. This is really the worst thing since it makes this company a fraud, actually scamming us. Under their scam system, no one will ever reach their deductible or out of pocket maximum, and they will NEVER pay your health costs. Which is what happened to me. We... Read More
