Identity and Background Verification

Rover.com does not attempt to confirm any user’s purported identity or background. Users are responsible for providing true, accurate, current and complete information about themselves. Users are advised to maintain and update any information so it remains true, accurate and complete at all times. Rover.com offers optional background checks through a partnership with First Advantage that verifies that a sitter has not committed a felony or violent crime, such that there would be reason to believe that animals would be in danger while in their care. Rover.com does not investigate any user’s reputation, conduct, morality, criminal background or verify information submitted though the services.

Cancellations

If you book a reservation with a sitter, then you have to cancel your reservation, which does happen, Rover.com will return the funds to the pet owner in accordance with the sitter's cancellation policy. Policies may vary from sitter-to-sitter. Rover.com, however, isn't obligated to intervene in any dispute between users regarding any cancellations and/or refunds outside of Rover.com cancellation policy (if any), regardless of whether Rover.com collected any money on behalf of a pet care service provider or third party service provider. It's really about you knowing how the sitter you choose operates, then being respectful with your sitter in the event that an unforeseen emergency comes up or your travel plans change last minute.

Rover sent me notices that I need ed to sign up to continue my services and then build me for the 1st visits that I had selected as well as the 2nd time I signed up because I was asked to buy rover. I canceled and they refused to cancel the visits that I signed up for and then 4 weeks later they set the sitter a rover card saying that I requested services. I found out that not only is there no customer support but they also upload all of your text messages to their app. This company should be shut down. Their total fraud.

Just started using a Rover sitter. Used her twice and my dog is crazy for her and her dogs & place. So 5 stars so far in that regard. What folks need to know is that the minute you sign up and they have your email and number you will be IMMEDIATELY BOMBARDED with email solicitations (which I never get and now I get 5 to 10 per day) and they've obviously sold my number as well because since the day I signed up I've gotten 2 to 5 text solicitations. I've spent years keeping my email and phone clean. I called them and complained - they said they would remove me from their list but it's too late - they must have sold it to some big house because it hasn't not slowed down after 2... Read More

I have had the worst experience with one of Rover's sitters, Carla B. She works in the States (Atlanta, GA) and Canada (west coast and Ontario), so be aware if you come across her name. 2 things to be aware of, she is a CON ARTIST pretending to be a pet sitter, she abandoned my pets after 1 day of sitting (which was when I was already out of the country so was helpless) and she fakes an emergency to end the job. First she wanted to use the rover website, but as we started talking, she indicated she wanted cash, This is called diverting. Do not pay anyone cash, go through the web site all the time to protect yourself. Use the texting system not whatsapp or email to communicate with the... Read More

Lousy service. The sitter can back out any time without warning and your plans are screwed. Customer service doesn't care either because all that stuff about, we'll make sure you have a replacement is simply not true. They will do nothing. Anyone can sign up to be a sitter, no animal experience required. Unreliable. Unprofessional.

I have two dogs and used Rover for dog walking in my neighborhood. I was careful about who I chose based upon the dogs very unique personalities. The second person I contacted was able to accept my request for the appointment. We spoke about the needs of my dogs over the phone. He was very understanding about the special needs of my anxious dogs and willing to work with me to help them learn better lease behaviors. So far I am very impressed with his demeanor, knowledge, and overall great pet personality. My dogs responded very well to him, almost unheard of with these dogs. I recommend interviewing for the position like you would any sitter. For me, it’s been very good!

Rover Sitter Roseli killed my dog. My dog caught a fatal disease while being boarded by a Rover.com dog sitter named Roseli in Delray Bch, Fl 33445. I noticed that he was not normal when I picked him up from a 7 day stay with a Rover Sitter in Delray Beach Fl. near Military Trail and West Atlantic Blvd. When I brought him home, he seemed different. A few hours latter we noticed he was shaking and in pain. We immediately brought him to the Animal Hospital. He was treated with pain meds, and had a blood test. The next day he was worse. We sent him to the main Vet Hospital in West Palm Beach. He died a few hours latter. He was perfecty healthy when we dropped him off. He had been with this... Read More

Our perfectly healthy dog collapsed and died shortly after getting her back from a Rover.com sitter. Rover.com refused to answer our questions or help in anyway.

I booked once through Rover for 2 dog visits to our home. The total price was $68 for 2 30-minute visits. The sitter was nice and prompt; however, only spent 15 minutes at our house each time. I did not feel this was a fair price for 1/2 of the service we were promised. When booking through Rover, please know they do not address such an issue for you and you must take it up with the individual sitter who was obviously very defensive when I raised the issue. I don't think we will use Rover again.

Cheryl Freeze has dedicated much of her time pet sitting for Rover and I can personally recommend her as a very loving and devoted sitter. Her special gift when it comes to caring for them is putting their needs first. They can sense her happy demeanor to be with them. I highly recommend her.

I really try not to complain or give bad reviews. But after a few weeks of this stewing in my head, I decided I have to warn other doggie parents. Ever used the dog watching/walking app Rover.com? I would suggest you dont or you stop. I found a sitter that I really, really liked. I booked her multiple times on the app. However, the last time my dogs were there, my poor Monty was bit by another dog. On the eye. This is in NO way the sitters fault. After taking Monty to the doggie ER because his eye was bleeding, they said the bite went through all three eyelids and were concerned that it hit his cornea. However, due to the extremely bad infection they couldnt tell until that was taken... Read More
