This is not the company I originally signed up with. That company charged a reasonable rate and paid on claims that made it worthwhile to get pet insurance. Not anymore. After I lost 3 cats to cancer, thyroid, and kidney conditions prior to my current cats, I thought that insurance made sense to help pay the bills. However, the way this company now operates is just plain wrong. It's robbery. It's insensitive. Don't do it. My advice: Read the fine print with any insurance company. And don't expect that what you buy today will stay the same. In this case, it surely didn't. And now my cats are older and have pre-existing conditions, so I can't switch. DONT EVER THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!! RUN!!!! RUN AWAY FROM THEM BEFORE THEY TOOK YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! If your pet had ever got into any issues before you purchase this insurance, you are never going to be covered. If you think your pet's emergency situation is getting covered by the insurance, you are totally wrong!!! You will be ending up paying every single penny of the emergency situation AND the expensive policy fee. They will use EVERY POSSIBLE DETAIL of your previous record to deny your claims, no matter how they are actually unrelated. I strongly suspect that their people are not qualified for any diagnoses. If you start the policy before taking control of the animal and it gets sick they consider it a preexisting condition also if your pet has an accident that too will be considered a preexisting condition. If you value your pet choose another provider. The deductible is not broke down into a percent of a claim so when my bill was $400 they took the whole $300 annual deductible from that claim leaving only $100 reimbursement.
I have gone through the ringer with you! I have to WORK a full time job with you to get service Promised. Claims are lost! Inability to read claims! A timely return on cash put out! Shameful! This company is full of regret! Apologies etc. etc.
We have had an excellent experience with Petplan! Our wheaten poodle mix has had several stomach and allergy issues since we adopted him and I don't know what we would have done without Petplan! My only advice would be to check into the policy and plan for when the coverage actually begins. We didn't realize there was a waiting period once we signed up for treatment coverage and had to pay more from the onset of our policy than we anticipated.
Do not use this company! They are the worst and have no interest in your pets health. We had our plan changed on us to increase our annual fee and also increase our deductible from $200 to $500. All of this was done behind our backs without telling us. We only found out after a $1000 surgery where we only got $90 of coverage. Please, Please, Please do not use this company to insure your pets. We spent so much money to protect our dog to only get pennies back. After speaking with customer service several times, we were told a letter was mailed to inform us of the change and if we didn't receive it (which we didn't), an "assumption" was made which resulted in an increased in fees and raise... I rate this company zero stars. We've had coverage for two years since buying a breeder puppy. Have had over $5,000 in vets bills for various conditions, and all claims have been denied. Other owners with similar claims with other insurers have had claims paid. Thos company has been a sham for us
I HAD PetPlan for several years. I WAS happy with them. They were BOUGHT by another company who REDUCED COVERAGE and INCREASED PREMIUMS. I am in the process of TERMINATING my coverage. Before all this happened I was very happy with their customer service.
We have had Pet Plan for 7 years. As long as we have had our dogs. This past August was the first time we had to use the insurance. One of our dogs was attacked and had close to $5,000 in medical bills. Originally we had trouble logging into the website, but their IT department sorted it promptly and kept in touch with us. More importantly Jenny, and later Gina "Happiness Managers" did a great job of helping us. We were on vacation and did not receive notice that they needed additional information. So, I have had pet plan for my dog, Bella for over 2 years now, I decided to get it for her after she ate a bone off the street and we needed to get her X-rays and labs. so far no claims and all was well, then this last month my wife came home with a kitten "little" we call him. I put insurance on him immediately because I am a proactive type of guy. Well you guessed it, the worst happened and the next day we came home to find him clinging to life, vomit and diarrhea all over, scooped him up and rushed him to VERG animal hospital in Brooklyn, who is AMAZING BTW. 6100.00 later Little is alive and well, well 6100 you say, heck you had insurance right? I have had Petplan Insurance for about five years for my dog Madi. Madi is now eight years old and recently developed an allergy that make her very itchy, which means we have been seeing a Dermatologist. These visits are not cheap, but Petplan has been very good about reimbursing me for my expenses. I recently called Petplan to change some account information and ask about a couple of claims. Nick was very helpful with these matters and even called back the next day to let me know that my claims had been processed and my reimbursement was on the way. I really appreciate his follow-up; which was unexpected.
I have been using Pet Plan for years and have never been disappointed in the coverage. I have a German shepherd and a mixed breed and have had to use my insurance fairly consistently, for the GSD anyway. Recently, my reimbursement check was lost in the mail. No fault of Pet Plan. I spoke with Nick Burns who determined that it had been lost and had a new check sent to me within days. I appreciated his politeness and efficiency. Thanks, Nick and Pet Plan!

I've had PetPlan for 9 years for one Golden and 5 years for another. I have been very happy with the customer service. My latest health concern was cancer for my 9 year old. I have had many claims. My happiness manager, Jennifer Grasso, has helped take some of the stress away. She keeps in touch with me and is always asking about my pets and makes sure my claims go through in a timely manner. I strongly recommend PetPlan!
What a bad insurance company. Been with them for years and we moved literally 3 miles from our current residence and because my zip cope changed my rate increased 5.00. I am sorry it's a matter of principal. Because I moved this does not make my pet more of a risk.
I am so thankful I have Petplan for my dog Zoey, who unfortunately has an ongoing issue that Petplan is covering. She also recently has been limping and has been to the vet twice for this and we're still unsure what the cause is and Petplan has covered the expenses for this as well. I recently submitted four claims for both the ongoing issue and limping and when I realized my claims were taking a little longer than usual to be completed, I contacted Petplan and spoke with Gina. She made sure I didn't have to wait much longer for my claims to be completed and she notified me that they were done the day after I spoke with her. Thank you Petplan and Gina!
Petplan has been a great Insurance for my 2 Pugs over the last 6.5 years. They recently had Dental surgery ( both dogs) by a Board Certified Dentist and I was unsure if Petplan would pay. I spoke to 3 awesome reps many times, Blair G, Simone and Tami R ( I seemed to need to call daily for about 2 weeks) my claims were expedited ( without me having to ask) and we got reimbursed almost $4000 within about 10 days. My one pug didn't handle the surgery very well and Petplan paid for a specialist and ER visits, no problem. I just renewed our 3 dogs coverage with the help of Regina B. She was not only friendly and courteous but she also did everything she could to keep our premiums as low as possible. Regina also checked on a claim that I had submitted for one of our dogs knee surgery and expedited so we could receive payment soon. After having a very allergic rescue cocker whose medical bills reached 6K the first year, I made the decision to make certain that when I had another cocker, I would have pet insurance. I asked several pet owners which company they used, and every one of them used Pet Plan. I got a new puppy and got Pet Plan insurance. Best decision I ever made. She is more allergic than my last cocker, and as a result has had some medical issues that were very expensive. My claims have been handled expertly, promptly, and few have been declined. I’m thankful for Petplan insurance. I have 3 rescues and Petplan has helped me give my furbabies the quality care they deserve. Insurance is something you pay for and pray you never use. You have to pay for car insurance and chances are you’re never going to file a claim. Cable TV/Internet and or cell phone bills cost more than pet insurance. Petplan also pays for medications and tests. My Daisy is diabetic and Peggy Sue has Cushings and renal failure costing hundreds of dollars monthly for life. PET PLAN IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE!
I have been with Petplan Pet Insurance for several years now. Just recently in the past year and a half my yorkie has experienced pancreatitis which led to exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and diabetes. Without Petplan I am not sure I would have been able to get the best treatment for my baby. They are awesome. Turnaround time for claims is so quick! When your pet is ill, the last thing you should be thinking of is how to pay for meds, tests, visits, etc. Petplan has given me peace of mind.
My three fur-babies have been insured with Petplan since they were puppies. They are now 12, 10, and 10 years old. I have not had to use my insurance until recently when one of my dachshunds Gracie was diagnosed with mammory cancer. She needed 2 operations since the lumpectomy did not work and she needed to have the whole line of memory glands on one side removed. Thank goodness she's doing great and needed no chemotherapy. Petplan is a lifesaver to me knowing if ever my babies get sick their treatments will be very affordable for me. I put the claim in for Gracie and received a check in the mail within two weeks. I love PetPlan, but the premium increase is becoming way too costly. I have had two claims and I do understand that premiums rise. I even called to see about increasing my deductibles and co-pays, but the savings were minimal at best. I work in the insurance industry so I get how it all works. I was advised that the new underwriter is not allowing changes until you are a customer for three years. I insure 5 cats and want to add a 6th. I am sorry to say that you are going to lose a customer.
I have had PetPlan Insurance for 9 years. I have never had a claim, but have renewed my insurance with the staff direct every year and they are wonderful, Gina Blair was outstanding and Tammy and all the other staff are very knowledgeable and very helpful. I won;t claim they are the most competitive rates, they were the best when I first purchased 9 yrs ago, but rates have been raised after 3 yrs at least 40% each year with no claims, so if I was to purchase again I would have to make an assessment of their costs.
