Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch Coverage

Coverage - 5 / 5

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Benefit Limits

Benefit Limits - 5 / 5

Fetch's maximum annual payouts can range from $5,000 to unlimited.

This can be advantageous if you research the types and costs of conditions your particular breed is likely to face, and combine it with the cost of treatment considering your area.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 5 / 5

Like all the leading pet insurance policies today, Fetch will pay a predetermined percentage of your actual veterinarian bill after you have met your deductible.

The reimbursement rates you can choose from are 70%, 80%, and 90%.

Deductibles - 5 / 5

Cat owners can select a deductible of $250, $300, or $400, while dog owners can select a deductible of $300, $500, or $700.

If you choose a higher end deductible, it is going to translate into lower monthly premiums. Fetch operates on an annual deductible, which is ideal as you will only have to meet the one deductible regardless of incidences.

Cost - 3 / 5

Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Pricing is based on your pets age, breed and location.

Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

If I could rate your company it would be a 0! You have basically taken all of my payments but paid out absolutely nothing that you said you would. I would not recommend this company to anyone! And I will be posting throughout the entire social network and on Google. I was lied to when I signed up and ripped off from non-payments.

I am a long term policy holder. Petplan has covered the lives of my 2 poodles that now live on rainbow bridge, and currently cover my doodles Sam and Sophie. Sophie had multiple complications after infections after her spay. All covered and paid promptly at 80/ 20 with $400 deductible. Sam was just diagnosed with copper storage disease of the liver. Bills are $6300 for testing and surgery. Claims all paid promptly at 80/20 with $500 deductible. All my pets get insured as puppies, as soon as they are eligible. They are all seen by vets for yearly exams. Choose your level of coverage and read the fine print. Every agent that I deal with, especially Sarah, has been like family. They are... Read More

I just renewed our 3 dogs coverage with the help of Regina B. She was not only friendly and courteous but she also did everything she could to keep our premiums as low as possible. Regina also checked on a claim that I had submitted for one of our dogs knee surgery and expedited so we could receive payment soon. I truly appreciate the kindness and consideration shown to me as a consumer. Thank you Regina!!

I got my dog a policy with PetPlan when he was a tiny puppy because at that time PetPlan was the best insurer out there. My dog is now 8 years old and has had allergies for most of his life, and PetPlan has since changed underwriters. My policy premium for last year was $1289 and next year (are you sitting down?) it's going up to over $2300 a year. Really???? Yes, really. Since he has a pre-existing condition I'm out of luck--pay their ever-increasing premiums or drop PetPlan and go with another company that won't cover his allergies because they're pre-existing. I shudder to think what they will want from me when my dog is 10, or 12 years old--I wouldn't be able to afford t. I... Read More

Ive been with this company over 10 year for all our many cats. They were good until this past year. They changed their way of doing things. They downgraded our policy at renewal and we have no choice. They have only done it to our cats with chronic issues. Our cats that are healthy they did not change. To explain, we always buy the best policy with the highest cover, unlimited payout, with the lowest deductible and copay. I was FORCED to take the highest deductible and highest copay with limit total payout ($15m) for our cats with chronic issues. They did this at renewal. Our cats with chronic issue have been with GPP for over 4 yrs and of course we can't switch them now because of... Read More

A customer of Pet plan for 7 years. Missed about 1 year due to finances and then reinstated it. After two years and paying $3000 we submitted a claim for $600 that was denied. We would have to pay the $100 deductible and get reimbursed 80% of a covered charge. They said since we have no medical records for the past two years they are using it as a baseline. When we spoke to the rep on the phone to ask about the policy before we reinstated we were not told we needed a baseline physical. Was told by the rep today that it is our problem and we should have read the contract thoroughly to know that is what we needed to do. Normally a policy wouldn't go into effect until a baseline was... Read More

PETPLAN IS LETTING ME DOWN. After six years of continuous coverage with Petplan they are now holding back coverage for the treatment of my dog's thyroid carcinoma. About two and a half years ago my dog contracted thyroid carcinoma and went through treatment, now the vet tells me that he needs more radiation treatment, so I started a preapproval form at Petplan, and despite their advertisement that this request takes 1 to 5 days to approve, they are telling me that it will take a month or more to approve. I had insurance with Petplan for SIX continuous years so you would expect better treatment from them, but they are now putting the life of my pet in jeopardy. MY PET CANNOT WAIT... Read More

I am a HAPPY customer of Pet Plan. We have had Pet Plan for over a year and our Shih Tzu jumped from our daughter's arms and broke his jaw. He had to have surgery, a plate and four screws. It was difficult. Having Pet Plan already in place many months before helped so much. The customer service was outstanding. Fast forward, the same puppy had surgery on his mouth this week and I've talked to Sarah Vassallo at Pet Plan. She helped with the paperwork. The kindness and understanding is appreciated. When a pet is suffering the family does, too. Pet Plan takes so much of the anxiety away - knowing that the company is reliable and willing to help. I faxed the paperwork on the 10th... Read More
