24PetWatch is a subsidiary of Pethealth Inc. who provides services like pet insurance and companion animal services to customers in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The Ontario-based company issues coverage unexpected accidents and illnesses for dogs and cats, as well as microchip ID and lost pet recovery services.

24PetWatch offers solid coverage and a host of additional items standard that are excluded by most other carriers' standard plans.

Coverage for trip cancellation and living expenses have an annual $500 limit without deductible or copay, which is fantastic.

However, the company's plan structure is somewhat limiting.

Lower level, standard-priced plans have yearly limits that are too low.

And the high limit, customizable plans are more expensive than more or less the same plans from other carriers.

24PetWatch offers one Accident-Only plan, and 5 levels of plans that cover accidents and illnesses.

Each accident and illness plan offers the same coverage items and are separated only by an increasing annual claim limit.

Additionally they offer a wellness add-on.

24PetWatch also has a few additional benefits which are not subject to deductibles and copays.

These include: boarding fees, trip cancellation, lost pet recovery, etc.

As far as coverage goes, these useful extra items are not traditionally included in other standard pet insurance plans.

Although the lower-tier plans are quite reasonably priced, you must remember that $1,500 or $3,000 worth of coverage per year is usually not going to be enough for a serious accident or illness like dysplasia or cancer.

The choice of deductible you get with 24PetWatch is wholly dependent on the plan you choose.

For example the Accident Only and Essential plans offer only a $100 deductible. Conversely, the Champion Plan -- the most expensive with the highest benefit limit -- offers deductibles $100-$1,000.

While this might seem restrictive compared to other companies at first, you must take into consideration that lower-tier plans, with less deductible choices, have lower benefit limits already built in.

So the choice of a $100 deductible for a a plan limited to $1,500 annually isn't going to automatically mean high premiums.

If you are unable to use this, you can print a paper claim then email, fax, or mail it back to the company.

Claims can be paid by direct deposit, or to the treating veterinarian's office itself which is highly convenient and not always available with most plans.

The turnaround period the company advertises, however, is 60 days.

This is twice as long as most other plans.

I will say I didn't stay long enough to have any claims so I can not speak about that but I feel like the company as a whole is shady. I got the information from my shelter and was offered a free month trial. Figured why not and signed up making the mistake of not looking at reviews. Then I looked at the reviews. Decided I did not want to continue. I tried to look for a way to cancel my coverage. There's nothing under my account. So happy with this company. A dog I rescued in July came with one free month of pet insurance from this company. I activated the offer and was so glad I did. About 2 weeks after, the new dog became very ill with some unknown infection. We treated her with antibiotics, blood cultures, ultra sounds etc.... all over the course of 5 months. It was so expensive, I never could have afforded it without insurance. 24 Hour Pet Watch covered everything. The claims process was so simple and payment was prompt. As a veterinarian I wouldn't even give them one star. The range of things they actually cover is too narrow. If a condition doesn't match their description or requirements they deny coverage. Have not had a single good experience with the company.

Stay away from this insurance company! They will ALWAYS find a loop hole not to pay you. My dog was JUST diagnosed with a bilateral perineal hernia and had a complex and expensive surgery. 24 Pet Watch did not pay us a penny, claiming that this condition was pre-existing! We joined this insurance more than a year ago and my dog's hernia problem was diagnosed last month! This company is a fraud and rips you off your money!

If I could give no stars, I would. They took over Purina's policies several years ago. At first it took months to get reimbursed. They just raised my premium on one of my cats from 17.21 to 85.00. He has asthma and I use an inhaler. They definitely that this is the reason but I know better. They claim that they notified me but I never received a notice. They tripled the premium on a cat that I have never filed a claim with. Whatever you do,please do not sign up with this company. There have been a lot of complaints about them.

Do not ever buy pet insurance from this fraud of a company! 4000.00 worth of bills and they have never paid one! They asked me for full medical records, which I emailed, and they lost them. I then faxed them, which they lost them. I then sent them certified mail, and was told they're missing one page. Their Facebook page, if it's real, is full of negative comments. The money I put out monthly for this policy, I could have paid my dog's bill myself! #24 PetWatch A fraud company.

Only if there was a Zero Star Rating.... The company's name changed a while ago from petcare to 24petwatch, website became extremely hard to use. There were no information on policy coverage like it used to. I had to make a few contacts to finally get my policy package sent to me via mail (which I would prefer to just see it online / email) When I faxed in a claim a week before my policy renewal date, I followed up two weeks later, then three, then a month later and FINALLY someone replied me saying there was no claim on file. This company is ridiculous. I will be switching over to PC insurance. They've increased their price from $38 a month for my plan to now over $46 a month in the... Read More

This Company 24 Pet Watch should not be allowed to do business in the United States. Customer service is awful. They will not pay out I've been fighting 8 months my 8yr old German Shepherd has cancer it's not fair they are uncaring IDIOTS!!!
