We hired them to move my son's belongings from New York to Texas. What we were not made fully aware of was that they would subcontract the move to another company based in Ohio. After carefully labeling and tagging our belongings, we later learned that our shipment traveled through multiple states, including Florida, the Carolinas, and Arkansas, before finally arriving in Texas.
The condition of our belongings upon delivery was unacceptable. More than half of our items arrived damaged, broken, or otherwise mishandled. In my experience Safe Ship is a classic Bait & Switch company not to be trusted. When I was looking for a company to handle my move I thought I did my home work. Safe ship had pretty high reviews, promoted as veteran owned and operated. So I gave them a call. The sales person, I use that term because that’s what he is was very pushy, deceptive and high coercive. We explained our move was very large and requested a representative come to survey our house and provide an estimate. The salesman said that was not necessary, that with a virtual tour he could provide a reliable estimate. He then looked at our real estate listing, and said that was all he needed. Not the best experience with Safe Ship. I was under quoted for the initial cost and when it came time for the pre pickup meeting I was told it would be double the amount. Negotiating the price was done and removed some items out of the move pile to cut down on cost.
When the movers arrived, I was handed the paperwork to fill out. When asked about the move date I was told to put "TBD" on all the paperwork. We were also told sky was the limit on paying for the pickup; cash, check, cashier's check, Zelle, money order. In my experience, Safe Ship Movers engaged in conduct that I believe was deceptive, unfair, and highly coercive. I was provided with an initial estimate, only to be told five days before the move that the cost had increased by approximately $1,500. Even after we reduced the amount of property to be moved, the company did not reduce the price. On the day of the move, the charges increased by approximately another $500, resulting in roughly $2,000 in unexpected costs beyond what I had originally been led to expect.

There are great moving companies, unfortunately this is not one of them. They quote you a price over the phone wanting a 50% deposit immediately. Then they ghost you until 3 days before your estimated pickup date and raise your quote, now saying you will need more cubic ft space, (went from 1707 cubic ft to 1916 cubic ft) and raised my cost over $2,000. 12 hours before pickup they call and let you know what time they will be there to load. They showed up with a 26 ft truck that has a VIN plate attached to the truck that states max 1702 cubic ft. I made numerous attempts to contact Safe Ship but no answers or call backs. After my experience with Safe Ship Moving Services, I’m honestly stunned that ConsumersAdvocate could publish anything resembling a neutral or positive summary about this company. The assessment on their site feels so disconnected from reality that it makes me seriously question the reliability of the platform and whether they actually vet the companies they feature.
Safe Ship is not a moving company at all — they are a broker that hands off your move to whoever will take it cheapest, then denies responsibility when everything goes wrong. I had pleasure working with team that made my move easy and quick. Movers arrived for the pick up on time, they delivered my furniture on my desired delivery day, which is was October 30th. Movers Erik and David made delivery great and smooth, they unwrapped and places all my items to their places.
Be careful! SafeShip lies and promise the moon then recommend a carrier who had individuals with no clue how to protect personal property. We paid for full pack and ran around day of move packing as much as we could to prevent damage.
Items were “packed” with no bubble wrap or wrapping paper. Glass vases placed in boxes with zero protection. Do not waste your time with these carpet baggers. They hide behind statement “any damage is paid by shipping carrier” to absolve themselves even though they recommended this carrier.
SAFESHIP sold me a bunch of bull. My entire shipping was contracted with a 2nd rate moving company that unloaded all my things in Los Angeles and repacked into another moving truck. During that process my diamond ring and father's WWII medal was stolen. They don't tell you about the subcontractor's ratings!!! Beware.
Don't trust this company!!
We could not be more disappointed with our move. We hired full-service movers hoping to reduce stress, but instead, it tripled it.
Major issues we encountered included:
• Bait-and-switch pricing: We were given an unrealistically low quote based on a misleadingly small estimate of boxes, only to have costs increase later.
• Damaged items: Many boxes were crushed, our expensive couch arrived filthy, and large items like our 55” TV, queen bed, and TV stand were destroyed.
• Missing or incorrect items: Several boxes never arrived, a Dewalt drill set in its bag disappeared, and at delivery they even tried to hand us someone else’s dresser.
