NIGHTMARE!!!!!!! We paid over $16,000.00 to move from CO to NM. Our property was to be kept on the trailer until we found a house. When they came to deliver our property, we received a phone call from Bekins and we were told that we owed $5,000.00 more and a representative from the company was on his way to get it. He arrived and gave us a receipt that did not show that it was paid to Bekins. It took 3 trips to unload everything. .Upon examining our property, we discovered many missing items, damaged antiques, and other damaged furniture. We also learned that our property had been unloaded from the trailers and reloaded. Clearly a breach of our contract. When we started the claim... Read More
This could not have been a worse experience. Driver showed up with half a truck load. Told him my items would not fit. He didn't believe me. Did not have any wardrobe boxes and refused to get them. Did not have proper boxes to wrap TVs or pictures. Refused to get them. Ran out of tape and wrap. My clothing was stuffed into small boxes. Leather couches and chairs were not wrapped. A U-Haul had to be rented on the 3rd day of the loading (Sunday), a job that was supposed to be done in one. The driver (John) told me he would wait with both trucks till Monday when a driver would be sent to drive the U-Haul. STOP! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! BEKINS promised via contract to move me from NJ to NEW YORK STATE ON July 29th, 2021 and did not show up. On the evening of July 27th, 2021 they called and stated the move will take place on the morning of July 28th, 2021 which did not work for me. Basically it was take it or leave it !The point of contact person Gabriel Jones who had collected my 500.00 dollars did not call me or return my calls. Finally, I was able to reach him and he had nothing to say except "that is how dispatch wants it". Deposit not returned despite my formal complaint with BBB. DESPITE THIER PROMISES, THEY HAVE AVOIDED ANY FURTHER CONTACT WITH ME OR THEIR AFFILIATE. USE ANOTHER CARRIER THAT WILL PROVIDE SERVICE AND NOT CHEAT YOU! In June, your local agent quoted me a total moving fee of $770, which was also supposed to include any travel time. This move was actually less mileage than the May move. You charged me an additional $77.50 which is not specified on your invoice. Although I paid the entire fee, I called you the same day to dispute this additional fee. Bekins (a subsidiary of Wheaton World Wide Movers) denied our damage claim in full simply because we signed for the shipment and did not note the damage on the day we signed for the delivery. This is even though the pre-move sales documents say you have 9 months to make your damage claim. If you don't inspect everything the day of delivery, then DO NOT sign for the delivery. Our shipment was over 14,000 pounds and we did not have unpacking service, so it would have been impossible to inspect that amount of material on the final delivery day. Furthermore we had a lot of artwork crated and Bekins didn't send the uncraters until 2 days after we signed for delivery, so they knew we couldn't... Read More
