Overall Rating: 2.5 / 5 (Average)

Continental offers standard long term care insurance group policies. These policies are not available for individuals, however, which limits the type of policyholder who may take advantage of their plans. Continental also limits the amount of coverage to care provided outside of nursing homes. People in assisted living facilities may find these policies lacking. I am very dissatisfied with customer service. No one seems to know the answer to my dilemma with payment of benefit. I have been sent to management team many times and they do not know the answer. They always say they will call me back, but to no avail they never do. Meanwhile my aunt is having to pay out of pocket for care until they can figure things out. They have different ideas and say they can not interpret claims departments reason. Claims department will not call me back either. Go figure......I have spent hours on the phone with them.

My father has paid into his long term Insurance for 25 years and now they tell him there is a premium increase of 95% to keep the plan. Has anyone thought of a class action suit?

These people are complete crooks and scam artists. My husband has paid into this policy for over 30 years. They don't deny the claim. They just don't pay. They are rotten thieves. He needs this money. This was paid for. They are assholes as well on the phone. Don't use them for anything or use any company associated with them.

DO NOT use this company !!! My mother paid more that $42, 000 in premiums (16) years for CNA long term care insurance. In April she moved into assisted living due to sight and mobility issues. I contacted CNA and sent letter from mom's doctor explaining why she should be in assisted living. CNA denied the claim. I requested a evaluation be done. CNA sent in their own evaluator. The evaluator came into the facility without notifying the staff or administrator. Based on the evaluation they had done, CNA denied my mother's claims. The reason stated was that she only met one of their criteria for benefits (she must meet two). Although mom need showering and dressing assistance, their... Read More

Be very careful when dealing with this company. Check to see where they are investing the money as most of your money is going to pay for their comfort and advertising to get more of your money. What they tell you may not be the full terms of their contract. READ EVERYTHING before you sign anything. If you don't understand what you are reading , DON'T SIGN until you have an outside consultant explain the terms to you. Good Luck and be very careful. Don't trust their spoken sales words.

I agree with Denise. This company is almost impossible to deal with. A long term health policy was purchased from another insurance company. No problem with paying of claims with them. When Continental took over the problems started. Since April, 2019 only partial benefits have been paid. They said that they only received half the claims. Faxed that to them. Recertification from the doctor was due August 1st. Told that the form would be faxed to us. Never received it. Have called several more times and have been told that the form is faxed to the doctor, not the patient. Called the doctor's office and they haven't received the fax. Have called Continental numerous times since... Read More

My experience with Continental General has been difficult and frustrating. I will say that the customer service people who answer the phones have been as helpful as they can be given the limited access to information that they have. I have always been talked to in a patient and kind manner by customer service. That said, the rest of my experience has been unacceptable. I began the process of filing a claim for my father (who has paid into two policies for many years) in December of 2018 for services dating back to October of 2018. After multiple phone calls to Continental General and after the proper documentation had been faxed from two different agencies (including 48 pages from a... Read More

This experience has been an absolute disappointment. My father was admitted into the nursing home on March 14th, 2019. I filed a claim April 10th, 2019. After 27 phone calls, still NO results. I am constantly told, "it is approved" , but still nothing. On May 17th, I was told the payment will go out within 2 weeks. Guess what, NO check. I was in the insurance business for 42 years, (a claim adjuster). I would have been fired by now. I am SO upset about this!

I paid lots $$$$$$ to CNA Insurance to protect me & my business CNA Insurance keep denying coverage. CNA Insurance keep getting my premium payments and all these promises in their policy but in reality it does not work. I just lost my house, got disabled, and filed bankruptcy because CNA Insurance keep prolonging and denying my claim. CNA Insurance DENIED DENIED!!
