HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out. Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

HSA provides a sample contract for potential customers on its website: HSA Sample Contract

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

Going on 3rd week now waiting to get MORE parts for a dishwasher. They get you a service person of THEIR choice. Had our hvac company check our furnaces and both had cracked heat exchangers. Yep pumping carbon monoxide directly into our home. Had our company replace both furnaces and then contacted HSA. Oh we can’t reimburse that because you didn’t go through us. I guess we were suppose to die of carbon monoxide poisoning instead of getting the systems fixed right. If there were 0 stars that’s what I would give them. Waiting is sometimes deadly! Will never recommend them!

Terrible service , no communication, had heat pump break down , service company recommended replacement due to condition and age. HSA would not replace as with the models available they will not fit in my home. There is only one brand that would fit and they refused to replace the unit and my only option was a cash out of 2 grand , when now it’s going to cost me close to $7 grand out of pocket. This company is a scam and does not support the warranty when you have a real issue. Been a customer for 8yrs .

Unreliable and do not live up to their contractual requirements. I spoke to multiple libels and they either once their risk folks deny something they will never change their mind. Skip this company and search for top 10 home warranties. They are terrible.

I have submitted 4 different claims to HSA and all of them were cleverly denied. Once one was approved for my Hot Water Tank...it took WEEKS and I mean WEEKS of back and forth to get them to even make a move on getting THIER contractor to do anything. This is by far the most unreliable and disappointing warranty service I have every experienced. My next step is to start a fight to get my money back because I have lost more than I have been able to use in this relationship. This company is terrible and their customer service is all outsourced and argumentative.

While each representative is friendly enough, the extent of service is them repeating verbatim that the authorization department made the decision that my charges were not covered and recommending that I consult directly with the vendor for clarification. I consulted with the vendor, who was also unclear. When I asked for an escalation, the gentleman to whom I was transferred, referred me to my contract- section F, bullet 5- however, when I questioned the existence of the terms "hanging or suspended" in the language, his tone became more annoyed and he stated that the decision was final. I asked for the opportunity for completing the survey, which was available on all 3 previous calls, he... Read More

my fridge has been out of service for 2 month, trying to call the customer service and all they say "the dispatch is trying to find you a vendor" its been two month we are living on a mini fridge a family of 5, they are horrible, i am trying to call them every 48hrs and asking to speak to someone responsible but no luck in that, they are the worst, even I asked to give me approval to bring my own vendor and they can reimburse me after and they are not replying on that either, they are really a very bad company to do business with

After they sent out a drugged out service tech that looked at my HVAC unit for 15 minutes and told me I needed it replaced, I received a BS voicemail stating it was an "improper install" and that was that. I had another company come out and the unit has been running flawlessly for the past three years. This company is an absolute FRAUD. They just "auto-renewed" my contract for an extra $240 a year. I threatened to call my state's attorney general and they canceled it. Don't let them tell you the contract can't be canceled! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stay away from this company.

Our AC quit working on a Sunday. Initial call out took 3 days to happen. Not too bad, considering that it's summer. However, it was determined that the AC Compressor had to be replaced. The parts had to be shipped to the Contractor. Initial estimate was 3 to 5 days. Actually confirmed that the parts were on a truck, somewhere. Then, viola, estimate was changed to another 3 to 5 days. We've been waiting for AC replacement for over 2 weeks. And then new estimate is that it will be another 3 to 5 days before that actual parts get here, let alone waiting on the Contractor schedule. I attempted to escalate the issue with HSA. And I received the same response. This was a supplier... Read More

I'm glad I didn't pay for the plan. It came with the house. So far I've scheduled 2 listed items for repair, and both were DENIED! Customer service is terrible, takes forever to actually speak to someone and so far that has been a total WASTE OF TIME. If I could give them zero stars, I would!

Absolutely awful experience. We've been dealing with them for almost 2 months on an air conditioner. They vendor they use claimed to fix it, charged us an extra $75, it wasn't fixed. They had them come back, said a new control panel was needed and would take a few days. 2 weeks later still heard nothing. Finally go ahold of them and "it just came in" claimed they'd be right out. Never came. Couldn't get a call back. Contacted HSA multiple times and they claimed they'd escalate it and get back to me. Never heard back. Husband messaged the servicer on Facebook and they finally came back out. Apparently control board was never in. They worked on it and now it's shaking and buzzing. Called... Read More

HSA Home Warranty--HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I WOULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE 8 on a scale of 1-10 !!!! I have been waiting on an A/C compressor for 13 days. The initial impression was good, but once they realized they had to replace my A/C Compressor, they drug their feet in getting the parts ordered and "messed up on the Purchase Order" of the compressor. Originally, they sent the contractor out right away, which was great w/a quick to diagnosis of the issue and ordering of the parts. However, HSA did not order the parts correctly!!!! I was told 3-5 days the first time I called....then 5-7 working days.....I called again and there is no record of the order....I got told "Oh..there is a... Read More

I have been a consumer of Home Shield Alliance (HSA) since January 2021. For the most part I have mixed reviews of this company and their affiliates, but this most recent incident has impacted my views on the company. There has been no effort to keep my family abreast of the process after a technician was sent to our home. I have not been updated with a call or email detailing any more information beyond what I knew after the technician left that parts needed to be ordered. Today marks the ninth day I have stood in silence, awaiting any type or correspondence and I could not stand by anymore. I spoke with a multiple representatives, who informed me that the appliance company had not yet... Read More

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! NO HOT WATER FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS! If I could give them no stars I would! We have been with them for YEARS and had no issues on cheap fixes. The minute it becomes too costly, all of a sudden there are "no contractors in our area". I was given the option to find my own contractor but NO ONE would work with them! Not even to call them and give an estimate! I offered to email an estimate to them but NOOOO it had to be the company calling them! I eventually gave up and paid for the work on my own and canceled my account. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

A WHOLE LOT OF CRAZY! Pretty horrible. It’s taken months to get things repaired and there are serious quality problems with their vendors. They also refuse to repair many things. The vendors will lie and refuse to repair things. The customer service people lie and say the item isn’t covered. They try to charge for a second opinion when they aren’t supposed to. Their customer service people aren’t trained, so even if they try, the representatives don’t know enough to help. It’s ridiculous beyond imagination.

We had below zero weather. This place sent a company 6 times that was unable to fix our issues, and we were without heat for over a week in this weather until we had to hire someone to fix the issue with our own money. They literally had us on the phone for over 10 hours combined and it was the worst customer service I have ever had. The supervisor (after calling back days later) refused to provide an assistance or rectify any issues we had, and also refused to provide us the terms of our contract or their company policy in these situations. I would NEVER recommend this company. They give you the run around in deadly weather so you will have to eventually just pay for someone out of your... Read More

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with!! Stay as far away as possible. We've had a washer/dryer unit in the condo we bought in September in disrepair since early October. They have been the absolute worst to deal with. Outsourced overseas customer service that has every agent reading from the exact same script verbatim! We are so angry we've paid for a warranty from this company. If I could give them a negative number rating I would! Horrible!

Horrible insurance coverage. Stay away from this company. I had insurance and was told by HSA that I had to pay for "modifications" to repair the A/C. Modifications were not covered by the insurance policy. Total cost was going to be $ 1,600. The contractor told me that the unit needed to be replaced but HSA refused. Basically, the A/C unit was old and needed to be replaced. Stay away from this company!

THE WORST. Opened a claim on 8/1 for broken central air unit. Parts have been "on order" since 8/3. I have called almost every other day for an update on when the part might arrive. I have been very specific with my questions, pushing hard each time for more info than they were able to give me. The customer service reps are powerless to do anything other empathize with your situation and put you on hold as they pretend to try and find information for you, always to come back with "I don't have a date. It's still processing." One person was actually truthful and told me that they are still "trying to find the part." Only then did I ask if I could buy the part myself, which is when I was... After sending a check and creating an account, two months later i needed to put in a service request for a pipe flooding in my basement. While trying to put in the request it says my account is no longer valid and after 2 hours on the phone and being transferred 6 times im told my application was rejected but nobody knows why and they can mail me a refund check for the amount i paid, or i can re-apply and pay $80 more than i originally did and wait 30 days then put in a request. This company is 100% just a scam

I contacted HSA for a ceiling fan that stopped working. The light works but the fan does not. I was told by the electrician that came to look at it that the motor for the fan was burned out and if I wanted to purchase the replacement fan, I had to call HSA and tell them that. So I called HSA and told the rep I wanted to purchase the replacement fan and have the electrician that looked at the fan install the new one (he called it a cash out). I was also told by the HSA rep that I would receive payment from the electrician directly, for a "builders grade" fan and not the full amount that I paid for the new one. When I asked how much that would be the rep said he could not tell me that; that... Read More

This company is a complete joke. They'll pay for repairs of small things, but as soon as an appliance breaks, they'll have 100 different reasons why they tacked on $700 worth of extra fees, more than the cost of the actual appliance. Our hot water heater went out and they claim the hoses and expansion tank are going to cost $700, which is more than the tank. And if we don't pay that, our payout amount is only $475, which is almost $200 less than the $600 tank they were going to give us. You can't talk to anyone on the phone who will actually listen to you. They keep telling me my policy includes clauses that aren't there and that 'modifications aren't covered' when that isn't... Over nearly 7 years with HSA Home Warranty... The good: HSA contractors replaced water heat controller, sump pump & oven convection fan without incident The bad: HSA-contracted plumber "fixed" loose upstairs toilet by putting shims under it, which resulted in leak and water damage to the kitchen ceiling below. Paid out of pocket to fix the damage. Another HSA contractor "fixed" the just-out-of-mfr's-warranty clothes dryer by replacing a defective pulley with a replacement that is *much* noisier than when the dryer was new, and refused to make it right, saying HSA wouldn't pay to fix the noise if the dryer "works". On two separate occasions our central AC stopped working during the... Read More

They are a scam as far as I am concerned. They try to come up with any excuse they can to not cover a repair, or to cover only a small portion of the repair cost. They also have some of the worst customer service. Avoid at all costs.

We put in a service request on 6/16 for our AC not cooling.. we are still waiting. My first contractor assigned cancelled. After 3 attempts to reach then I called HSA to find they declined the work and no one else had been assigned. Someone was finally assigned yesterday 6/27 and they cannot come until sometime next week but I'm waiting for a call back because you cannot get a live person on the phone. I also have tried to reach a manager or someone other than a call person in Malaysia that barely speaks English without success. Anyone have a different number??? I am running my AC and window units blowing up my electric bill
