I wish I could give them ZERO stars. This company is a complete sham. They are in the business of trying NOT to pay for any claim you submit or just never return calls or address claims until you are eventually warn out from trying and getting nowhere that you just give up. THE WORST customer service you can imagine, unprofessional, dishonest, blatant lack of customer service and no concern for doing what is right for paying customers. BEWARE, I refused to let one of their contractors back in my home. You do NOT want these shady characters coming in your home, trust me. AVOID this company at all costs.
We lost power in 3 rooms and so I called HSC to fix it. They send an electrician, he was efficient, and seemed to know what he was doing. Everything was back to normal quickly.
My washing machine broke out of the blue and I needed it fixed ASAP because of the inordinate amount of dirty clothing that my children produce. On a daily basis there is literally a pile of laundry at my house waiting to be cleaned. I was wowed by how fast these guys responded to my request for my machine to be repaired. The dispatch lady was easy to talk to and she understood how I needed my washing machine repaired ASAP. I was able to schedule an appointment for a repair person to come out the very next day. The washing machine is back to normal. Now I’m just trying to find the robot housekeeper from the Jetsons that can fill and empty the machine for me.
Our dryer was producing clothes that were still damp after an hour on the highest temperature. Clearly, we had a problem. One call to The Home Service Club and the problem was solved. They sent us a dryer repair technician who came to our house and replaced the heating element. The Dryer repair tech said that the machine was in good enough shape that I could get at least five more years.
A few days ago, I decided to charge my chromebook but as soon as I plugged the chromebook in, all the lights went out. I didn't know what to do, but my boyfriend had the warranty. His parents purchased it when they bought the unit for him. He told me to call, he always gives me the tedious jobs. I thought it would be annoying but it wasn’t. The rep that I talked to for making a claim, got me in touch with the electrician, who was able to come the next morning to fix the issue.
My toilet was clogged . I tried plunging but nothing happened so I called THe Home Service Club. The plumber that they sent had a big machine and the snake kept jamming up. He had to go back to his office to get a different snake. There was something wrong with the motor of the snake that he came with. Once he returned with a working snake, he completed the work in less than 10 minutes. The remainder of the time was spent on him cleaning up the mess that the snake produced.
The washer was giving us problems so my wife filed online with The Home Service Club. The repair tech that came said that he would have to order parts for the repair. My wife explained how much she hates going to the laundromat. The repairman ordered the part from a local supplier so that it would be delivered the same day. Later in the day, he came back to install the new part. All we paid was our $65 deductible and that is all!
These guys were reliable from first contact, to sending out the plumber and then completion of the job. I called with a leak. They sent a plumber who was very friendly and didn't mind my 8-pound guard dog barking at him incessantly while he worked. The repair took about a half hour from start to finish. Also pleased with the cleanup after the work was complete.
Our cooktop range stopped working. The HSC called the techs in for us. Our tech was very knowledgeable and competent. In addition to fixing the range, he also tightened the loose handle that kept on falling off. I really appreciated the extra touch. Hard to find young people that take pride in thier work these days.
As a very busy working mom of four, I need to freeze my dinners in advance. I usually spend Sunday cooking and freezing food for the week, I can’t go long without my freezer. This past week, it just stopped working with a load of cooked meals inside. Hours of hard work just melting away! I called HSC with my baby screaming in the background. THey were patient with me as I could barely hear them over the kids. The repair man that came for the freezer found that the problem was with the thermostat. He managed to fix it in one visit.
Home Service Club came to the rescue with my broken water heater. We hadn’t been getting hot water for 2 days so I called to make a claim. They sent someone to perform a thorough check on why the hot water was not working. The tech explained to me what the problem was and after that he fixed it.. He taught me a lot about how to maintain the plumbing at home in conversation while he was working.
I had a big problem getting someone out to fix my water heater. They did finally elevate it to a high supervisor who offered several options. So i consider the issue resolved.
They sent us Benji (I hope I spelled that right), the plumber when our hot water heater stopped working. It took him a little over one hour hour from start to finish. He made sure to put floor and furniture cover before starting work and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. We have a finished basement and so I was very glad not to have a mess to clean when he was done. Also glad that the hot water is hot again.
I woke up to a dishwasher that would not turn on. It has one of those boards with flat buttons and when I pressed start nothing happened or lit up. I pressed other buttons and nothing happened no lights. Dead machine. After checking the outlet and that the dishwasher was plugged in, I called The Home Service Club. It turned out that the machine was faulty. The Home Service Club sent me a brand new Dishwasher. I actually like it better than the one I had.
***Update 12/20/17*** It continues to astound me that a company as unethical as the Home Service Club is still legally allowed to operate in the United States, especially in a state like New York with strict consumer protection laws. I have spent the last two weeks attempting to get them to honor a contract that they issued and they simply refuse. When the dishwasher went bad we went on to file a claim and based on previous experiences with an old warrnaty compnay we had we did not expect this service. We expected a long time of waiting, a strange technician, a lot of back and forth, and all that good stuff. So we were naturally surprised when we got a call shortly after placing the claim asking us for a model and serial and brand info on the dishwasher and the representative saying that they are trying to skip the diagnosis process and just accept it as covered and replace it. I've had my microwave not work for some time now and kept forgetting to claim it with the home service club. They had replaced my dishwasher a few months back with a new stainless steel one that I selected after a technician deemed it unrepairable. I finally remembered to claim it and was expecting the same technician to be dispatched but Danielle called me afterwards offering to replace it without having the technician even go out. It was an old microwave as old as the dishwasher, original to the home, and it made sense not to waste the time and money on the technician despite him being a very good tech. Long and complex air conditioning claim just finally finished and we are very happy with the result and the attention we received. To make the long claim story short, we ended up replacing the outside unit with the new refrigerant system compliant with code and were able to convert the existing inside unit to the new refrigerant to woirk together. Saved us from having to take off the door and replace entire indoor unit which is in good condition and was installed few years ago but was still using the old refrigerant to match the old outside system. I had HSC for over 4 years and moved in May of 2017, a couple days after I had moved I called them to update my information. After giving them my new address I was told everything was up to date. In September of 2017 my A/C unit went out and I call to file my first claim with them, but instead was told that since I had moved my warranty would need to be re written and the claim would not be covered because it was now pre existing. I was mad but understood that the person I had spoke with in May must have been misinformed so I said that's fine just refund me back to May of 2017 since nothing would have been covered. I have experienced nothing but poor customer service from HSC. The list of issues that I have experienced runs the full gamut, including (1) requesting service and not receiving a call back until one week after the service request was made, (2) waiting no less than 10 minutes for a customer service representative to answer when calling the 800 number, (3) being dissatisfied with the vendor response upon being assigned, and (4) a lack of follow-through when offerings have been made for resolution of a problem. At my age I can no longer do much tinkering around the house. Even when sometimes just getting around becomes difficult. I bought a warranty because my kids pressured me into it. But I don't regret it not one drop. They keep a home as large as mine running. I would recommend to any senior citizens to buy a warranty plan like this. You may be stubborn, saying you don't need one as I did, but once you get one it'll be a load off your shoulders.
We finished a claim and told Steph we will be happy to share our good experience with it. We had an central air conditioning issue and it was a big job. Long story short we ended up replacing half of the system and converting the other half so it is new and up to all todays codes and saved us a bunch of money on it. We had to do some research on it but Steph was wonderful and helped a lot. She exlpained the issues and obtacles, she was the one who suggested this route, and really and thoroughly followed through with us and our claim. I would love to hire her for my company we could use good people. The new air conditioner is working great and we are all very satisfied.
7/27 I'm updating the review to average because HSC got the problem resolved, the repair was paid for, and we received promises of better service in the future. I won't go higher because it was not painless, and I have no proof it will be in the future--yet. HSC called a local company that was supposed to respond to our electrical problem and we never heard from them. Customer service didn't escalate to a supervisor until after I complained loudly and publicly. The problem was with the electrical panel, in 100+ degree heat, and could have been dangerous. I have gone through several home warranty companies before i found this one and let me tell you they are HONEST! this company is more than fair and has always been completely honest in every way. To date I have had 3 claims and each has been handled quickly with good contractors and no issues. It took a long time to find such a good company and I'm happy I did I'm a single mother of four and am completely helpless when things break down so its great to have a home warranty you can really depend on.
Do not use this company. Customer service is bad and everything is going to be pre existing. I do not know how this company got in the top 10. Maybe they were meant to be in the bottom 10. It took them a week to get someone out to check on my air and yes they fixed one part, they said it was a courtesy to us. But it still did not fix my air. So, now I am out $125 for service call, still a broke air conditioner. They do not cover Freon. And now everything is pre existing unless it's brand new, but I'm sure they will find away around that. Don't use them!!
