Overall Rating: 8.5 / 10 (Excellent)

Vivint pairs their innovative, self-designed technology for home automation with customizable plans and flexible payment options, to make for excellent home security. Their aim to provide fully connected systems for the home puts them on the forefront of the industry. However, equipment costs can mount fairly quickly, and monthly monitoring fees are on the high side.

Vivint offers both pre-selected home security packages and fully customizable options as well with professional installation at no extra cost, except in the cases of their outdoor and doorbell cameras. Hardware options begin with the SkyControl Panel, to which additional devices are added, such as their doorbell camera, ping camera, outdoor camera, smart locks, element thermostat, etc, all of which feature a lifetime warranty. i started with APX Alarm on or about 11/19/2008. I believe (not sure) APX either changed their name to Vivint or were purchased. Nonetheless I have been a faithful customer up until Feb 2, 2017 when my service ceased. In the beginning their was a delay in billing which always seemed to put me behind SO I solved the problem by finding out what day it was due and setting my bank up to automatically pay monthly and they have been paid faithfully for years. I came home from a month vacation on January 2, 2017 with my alarm beeping. We tried to reach Vivint but I kept getting disconnected so we had no way of knowing what happened so we called the police. I continued for approx. 1-1/2... Read More

Don't know what's wrong with those who trash Vivint. I've had the system for several months now and couldn't be more pleased. By nature I am an extremely picky, technical minded, individual. I looked at other systems before deciding on Vivint. Different prices but when you peel the onion, if you want a lower price be prepared to get minimally acceptable equipment for the basic installation and pay more (often a lot more) up front if you want better. When all the payments for their service are added up over the time of my commitment, the total cost is approximately the same as what some have to pay for the installation alone from one of the "Big, Well Known, Companies" if you want... A communication change disabled our system on January 1st. After speaking with four representatives I was told our keypad was old and the latest AT&T upgrade disabled it. " We should have gotten a letter explaining this a few months ago" Meanwhile the monthly billing wasn't disabled. Schedules a keypad replacement and Vivint was a No Show. But the second person I spoke to told me the installer would call within 24 hours to reschedule. Our account was sold by ADT to Vivint so this is our first real experience dealing with them and it hasn't been good.

I got the system about a year and a half ago and have had no issues. The back-up battery has come in handy several times when i had power issues at home. The camera's in my home are great and mobile app works well. I've had several family and friends also use the system and love it.

HIDDEN CLAUSES in their contract limit their liability to practically nothing with no recourse. One hidden section requires that you call EVERY MONTH to request a test of their system or their warranty is voided. When their system stopped responding while we were away and temperatures soared in the humidity of our Florida home and mold filled the house, destroying clothing and furniture, they denied our claim of damages because we had not called EVERY MONTH to request a test of their system.

System was installed on 11/16/16, stopped working properly on 11/19/16. Camera does not record properly, system does not arm when instructed via phone, tamper warnings from detectors when no one is around. Phone calls take forever, reps try to sell more bells and whistles rather than concentrate on fixing problems. Took two weeks to get repair service at the house on 11/29/16. Was told the system would reboot and be fixed in 2 hours. Tech left and the system now have more glitches. DO NOT trust Vivant, they don't care.

I have had Vivint for approximately 9 months. I have had to have service about 7 times. NOT GOOD! The worst part is they did not show up for four scheduled appointments. It got so bad that they released me from my contract due to their inability to keep an appointment.

Worst security company ever. We sold our home and they wouldn't let us out of a contract I should never have done with them. We paid off the contract to get out of it and had to keep calling to get our our account cancelled. They kept telling me they couldn't cancel it in case I wanted the service back or someone else could take it over. Charged my account again and it took weeks to get my money back, then they e-mailed me that I was 2 months late on my monthly payments! What a joke this company is. I would never recommend them to any one.
